Top tip...don't become a weather forecasterThe sun is shining , the winds are turned and it’s now feeling warmer , base layers no longer required![]()
That's early doors. Is it at a links course? My first is April 9th, on a links, but even that is an outlier. They really kick in in May for me.Clubs and shoes cleaned yesterday ready for the first open of the season this weekend. Currently have six opens booked between now and the middle of May.

You can't go too early... there's definitely been snow at the end of March in more than one recent year. It’s that time of the year
The shorts have been taken out of the cupboard , washed and ironed ready to go
Trousers to be packed away![]()
Yes. And I don't care what you think of that.Glad you've got golf coming up... but does that mean your gear has been sitting manky since you last played![]()

Not a links and I might have to carry. As of today, they have a note on their website saying hedgehog wheels only, and I don't have any...That's early doors. Is it at a links course? My first is April 9th, on a links, but even that is an outlier. They really kick in in May for me.
Love it when dog walkers leave balls on the tee boxes that they’ve found elsewhere. Came home today with an extra Taylormade, Srixon, and Calaway. Makes up for previous lost balls!
If it’s anything like their own then they’ve licked them clean for meJust imagine what those dogs did to mark those balls when they came across them in the woods!
As the club summer matchplay season is upon us our handicap and rules secretary has sent out an email highlighting the main rule differences between matchplay and strokeplay. It covers everything I'd hope it would - but will be useful for members new to, or inexperienced in, matchplay - plus a reminder for all of us.
The one that pleases me most to see is something that has bugged me all the time I've been a member of my current club - he states that on the 1st tee the honour goes to the player on the top of the draw. This is how I'd always known it but its is something that folks at my club seemed unaware of. I don't know whether it's a Scottish thing (as he's Scottish) but I'm glad it's there - whether it's actually in the rules I'm not sure but as order of play is important in matchplay I'm glad he's set out the clubs directive/ruling on it.
As it happens - I always understood that the same applied for organizing matches - the player or pair on top of the draw made the initial approach to the opposition - though he didn't include that in his email when outlining the responsibilities of all parties when arranging matches.
