Teeing off early doesn’t help slow play

Gaps at a club are there for a reason

If it’s 8 mins that means they expect that when you tee off the fairway will be clear and when you get to your ball the group in front of you will be moving away from the green

If you go off early there is always the chance you get to your ball and then you are waiting

It’s simple - tee off at your time

Yup
The thing most are forgetting is 'take your time' is very often only said as a response to what another player has said i.e player A; do you mind if I finish...? Player B; "sure take your time"
This is a throwaway comment & not advice

Thinking on, I don't know that I've ever heard 'take your time' said as an isolated & unsolicited statement by Player B (which to me is advice) i.e Player A putts close'ish and goes to finish without comment.... and Player B pipes up with 'take your time' Never seen it happen
Agree I think it’s just an acknowledgment of his request to finish.
Although he dosnt have to ask once he’s started putting he can hole out as long as he’s not standing on anyone’s line!

The whole pick and place malarky.

You can pick and place anywhere on the fairway to around 6 inches - but if you are off the fairway you must put the ball back in the exact same spot after cleaning.

No one puts their ball back in the exact same spot. It’s always next to the spot and a little fluffed up for extra good contact.

One of my biggest bugbears. At my previous club the 1st had a slight dip on the fairway. After teeing off took maybe a minute to reach your ball and almost every time the next groups balls would start arriving just after you took your second shot.
It's annoying because immediately into your round you've got knobs right up behind you the whole round. I tend to play with my wife a lot and she definitely started rushing shots and not looking for balls in the rough because she felt she had to keep in front of them.

I assume he means MLR E2
"When a player’s ball lies in [identify area, such as the general area, at the 6th hole, in the general area cut to fairway height or less, etc.], the ball may be marked, lifted cleaned and replaced without penalty."

You can have qualifying competitions with this in place, although it is recommended only for particularly poor defined areas.

We have this at the moment. However, if in the rough, you must drop the ball, not place it. Placing is for the fairways only.

Course is very soggy right now, you get mudballs in the rough as much as on the fairways.

Ah so you have lift clean and replace in the general area so the ball placed back in the same area , don’t think you need to drop it

Maybe just a club or local rule for us then. It's fine, better than hitting mud balls out of the rough. We don't have qualifiers in the winter so it's about making play as simple and enjoyable as possible in the conditions we will inevitably face.

That’s how we do it in swindles , pick and place everywhere

Should really be in place for everyone on parkland courses etc

Or go to mats

We have to be careful in our winter group as we have pick and place anywhere, the OOB drop in fairway rule and gimmees - but sometimes there is a stableford comp run by the pro shop at the same time and you just enter if you want. Sometimes you have a fourball with 2 in the comp and the other 2 not so play to different rules. Does make it a bit harder to win the group comp as you can be disadvantaged but if you were that bothered then I suppose you wouldn't enter the comp.

That all depends on the Model Local Rule being used. MLR E-3, may be amended to include all of the GA.

There is no MLR that allows this. It should either be lift clean and replace (MLR E2) or lift clean and place (MLR E3), niethewr allow for dropping.
