Golf Random Irritations

Is there no (formal) way to overturn this decision? An objection, an appeal, or something similar?
If you use "common sense" as a guide, the decision, as it stands, certainly sounds wrong ! 😤
And I’ve learned: "Ask yourself, 'What would my grandma say?', and then look up the relevant regulations—Grandma is always right!" (y)
Good luck—I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you ! 🤞
Appeals have been submitted but ultimately those reviewing the appeal are the decision makers they made the change in the first place. It is what it is now I certainly won’t be playing now.

Can’t you just take holiday days?
Nope not that simple like it is in a normal job, that’s why these things exist to facilitate people getting time out of work to play sport. With it being taken away that removes people’s ability to get time out for it. In our line of work you can’t just take holiday there’s a lot more hoops to jump through.

Like I said I like many others simply won’t play.

Again completely missed the point 🙄
Not really - just saying I play a lot of golf on work time, work actually encourage it, which is/was what your work were doing.

I also take most of my holiday days to play golf (only get 28 days btw) when I want to go away - no real difference to this, albeit I don’t expect it to be subsidised.

It’s completely different as it’s representative sport that nobody can now play because of an admin decision so a competition that’s run for decades will now cease to exist. But yeah just like you 🙄

Anyway it’s my irritation and I’m entitled to be annoyed by it like so many others are especially those that have put their own time and effort over the years organising it.

Anyway enjoy your day pal.

Back on topic.

Club competition golf on Saturdays. I am getting really fed up with it. Rounds have become nearly an hour longer since I joined the club in 2009. Lots of waiting around and a daft score wins. Played last week with a guy who reckoned he could lift and clean his ball as there was a visible pitch mark near it. (No, the ball was not imbedded) His normal group always do it as it in in the Rules, he said. Handed him my phone and said "show me," I don't need it frankly.

Stableford in the morning, can't be bothered. But looking forward to a Mixed Open with my missus on Monday, then back to Saunton for a couple of days. Friendly four ball, losers buy lunch. Far more convivial. :)

After having 100mm of rain in November, December, January and February, we had the grand total of 20mm in March....
April, however, has broken a few records I feel.....3mm. That's all...3 measly millimeters
April showers?
My arsenal..........

And the upshot of this is that golf courses (well, the ones on clay) get churned up in winter and then the lack of rain in spring means they don't recover. My own course's fairways and approaches to greens are riddled with bare patches.

I suspect the solution is to close the course in winter much more than they currently do, but the membership would bitch and moan about that.

Played golf yesterday, Walking down the first fairway and we hear a shout of “Fore right” coming from the second tee. But we are down the left hand side, the third fairway runs down the “ right side”. Next thing a ball bounces in front of a PP and hits him on the ankle. After a Second or so we kinda looked at one another and said “ that’s fore left not right”. When we collared them a bit later they said “ two of us shouted Right and one left “ 🫣 couldn’t have affected him that much, he won the front nine.
It’s not tv golf, just shout “FORE”.

So when I won the Stromberg comp. They sent me through some gear. 3 x polos, a lovely mid layer and some
More shoes.
Ave ended up giving the 3 x polos to a PP as they were XL and I am A Large. I looked like Harry Hill In them. ☹️
He is over the moon so I should post in the gladden the hearts thread. But me am gutted coz they were gorgeous.

The change in preferred lies rules meaning clubs must remove them on 1st May and are unable to extend them without county approval which is unlikely to be given unless in extreme circumstances

Most clubs haven’t had enough growing conditions

Can only think the counties have thrown their toys out of the cot
