Golf Random Irritations

Posted this one before, but clubs taking forever to post the results of an Open really irritates me.

Played in an Open on Thursday, still no sign of the results on their website. If folk are willing to pay you good money to play your course, the least you can do is get the results up asap.
They had 2 ladies inputting the scores immediately as well for a live leaderboard. The results just need uploading 🤷

Has the score gone onto your HC record ?

Only thing I can think of if some “issues” have been found with someone’s handicap
Possibly. That happened at our Seniors Open, 3 of the top 5 were disqualified for not having put enough cards in over the last year. However, it was sorted pretty quickly and the results were posted that night.

Have seen it with a couple opens last year where it’s took a week

But it’s not good if a qualifying score isn’t on the HC yet

Why didn’t they check them prior to teeing off? Goswick did at their open this year.

I guess it’s easier just to check the prize winners rather than the whole field?

Plus, what happens when you identify someone as not meeting the criteria beforehand? Do you tell them before they play? Can see that being very awkward. And if you don’t tell them until afterwards, but you knew beforehand, that won’t go down well either. Bit of a no-win situation.

That’s true.

Especially because anyone playing between then and it being uploaded is effectively playing with an incorrect handicap.
To be fair it may be playing with an incorrect handicap. If there isn't one falling off and you didn't shoot one of our 8 best hcap is not affected.

Also, those that only post the winners. I want to see the full list. It's not hard.

Playing in a club match away from home with the worst performing partner of all-time. Front nine, 10 lost balls. It was embarrassing to the two guys I was playing on my own. Every hole, 100 yard snap hook into the bushes. There's being nervous and then just ... well... I felt sorry for him for the first six/seven holes and then just began apologising to the opponents. Worst loss I have ever had (7&6) and I was level handicap at the time. Oh well.

I am constantly staggered by how long it takes some people to play this game...

The Northumberland County championship yesterday, the first round was 4hours 45 minutes. It was at my old course where we would routinely play our 3 ball comp rounds in 3 hours 20.

One of the lads teed off his first round at 10:30 and finished his 2nd round at 19:30.

When it comes to county champs or any big board comps at clubs they seem to set up the course for a long and hard as possible which then affects pace of play

We do it a little differently by bringing a few tees up , not making the greens silly quick but putting in the pins in tricky places
