I meant when it's 30mph left-to-right wind obviously. It grabs my 10 yard fade and doesn't let go until I'm out of bounds.

We had some funny ones like the today, one of the lads hits a similar fade to you on one of our par 3s he aimed about 40yards left with his 5 hybrid and missed the green 30yards right

We played the 4 x Par 3s in level par but considering we had 16 shots at the off the tee we didn’t hit and hold a single green between us

To be fair, it can be super difficult to play a parkland course in windy conditions. For example my course has elevated greens fronted by bunkers. The holes are just not designed to be played in the wind, like a links course is.

At least on a links I could just aim 75 yards left since there wouldn't be any trees blocking the way! Can't really do that at my place.

I know you've played it so I'll give you an example of the 5th hole - normally it's a fairly easy hole, but with a left-to-right gale it's suddenly a very different proposition. Out of bounds to the right - even a ball that hits the right half of the fairway kicks right and down the bank towards the ditch, which is also deemed out of bounds so you can't just drop out of it. And you are limited how far left you can aim because you'll just hit the massive tree to the left of the first set of bunkers. I just have to aim as far left as I can and hope that my ball misses the tree by inches and finishes just in the right hand rough.

My mate who has a worse slice than me has had to hit 8 iron off the tee before to lay up before that first set of bunkers, as he couldn't see any other way to keep it in play. I've never gone that far, always just hit driver and pray.

The 2nd is similar, but luckily it's not too long so I tend to hit 3 wood which doesn't hang in the wind as much - but I still can't aim very far to the left because of another large tree.
