That's fabulous. I played there last year, nice place but my expectations were too high. I'd like to play it again and I'm sure I'll enjoy it more.

You can certainly see why Monty was a fader, anyone with a draw there is going to lose a lot of balls in the river 😳.

I met with a mate last night. We've added Gosforth and Ponteland to our growing list of Opens. That's what beer makes you do 🍻😄

Have entered a pairs event at Askernish golf club in June, looks amazing.

I'm currently looking for an open at the end of August as the wife may....be going away with her sister. Cleveland looks promising. Near Seaton Carew for the next day.

That would be a great warm up for Seaton Carew. Similar courses I believe, Seaton being the tougher track. I've played Cleveland, not Seaton.

Rather than start a new thread, can @Crazyface or a Mod please edit the title? Yes, good quality individual competitive golf is not easy to find in England.
For several years, I've been playing one of the best Individual Open Comps for us amateurs.
It's the England Golf Seniors Series & their Captains events played on consecutive days at some very good courses with a chance to win a place, later in the year, at the 2 day National Finals at Woodhall Spa.
Today I managed to complete the 'fastest fingers first' test & got into both days at Silloth & Moortown...... most sold-out in an hour or so.
In 2 weeks time, I'll be tested again to enter Seacroft, Worksop & Clitherore.
With 2 nights each booked at AirBnB's for Silloth & Seacroft the season's golf is beginning to shape up very nicely.

Just leaving for a couple of glorious days at an EngGolf event with LQ. Nearly didn't bother entering, as the thought of late April at Silloth can cause better men to crumble.
So it maybe the course rather than the weather that does for me.⛳🏌️‍♂️
A good prize of the National Final at Woodhall Spa awaits the winner.

Inspired by a post from @rudebhoy I thought it would be fun to recap the Opens played this year. Only Opens, not away days:

New Courses
Goswick
City of Newcastle
Hartlepool
Middlesborough (Brass Castle)

Previously played, I went back for more
Oakdale
Brancepeth
Gosforth
Castle Eden
Roxburghe
Whitley Bay
West Lothian
Dunstanburgh
South Shields

Most expensive was Goswick, £47.50. Cheapest was Hartlepool and South Shields, £15 each. Average would be around £25.

It's been an excellent year 😊

How much was Brancepeth and what was the format?
How would you rate it - value for money?
