Golf on Christmas day

Having peruse the imminent bookings tomorrow morning sees a fair few going out, and the club have put on a 9 hole team comp for Boxing day which 14 teams have committed to.

The one that gets me is the three ball that is going out about 8:30 on Christmas morning. I know that at least one of them has family, I'm not sure of the other two.
So, is anyone else doning a Grinch suit and golfing on Christmas day?

If I was at home on the day I probably would.
Very little happens in our house before 11 or 12 on non work days so it wouldn't likely be a issue..
May well be flying solo but nothing new there..

Playing tomorrow in a comp, and have played a lot of times on Boxing Day in an event called the 'Drunks Cup'
which I won the inaugural event.

Played most Christmas Days for the last few years - used to always get on a very good Surrey course when I lived up that way. Have something lined up in Dorset for this year.

Course closed, I'll need to wait until Boxing day
(I'd prob play if it was open, we'll go for a 10km walk on xmas morning instead)

What became tradition, at the suggestion of the wife, was me and the grown up lads going to the pub at 12 until 2:30 to get out of the way whilst she prepared dinner.

Even though she wanted us gone, she did moan at the fact we came in p1ssed, ate dinner and fell asleep for the rest of the day. So last year I suggested we play golf instead - she was delighted, until we played golf and came in p1ssed 🤣

Think it was coming home with a different bag of clubs than when you left was the issue

I'm sure there will be a thread on New Year resolutions and mine is to lose another half stone and drop ten off my handicap, which will be assisted by my bag build this year.

Need to practice loads (tough in winter for us workers) and play more.

Nothing left to buy, but it is NOT my fault the kids buy me golf vouchers  so I have my eye on a Bushnell or Shot Scope watch, but will wait for the sales.
