my golf pro said i have horrendous tempo and rhythm and sent me away to work on it. has anyone use a metronome? i would be greatfull for any reviews or advice

i've not used a metronome but there's a good book called tour tempo (got mine on amazon) that comes with a cd with various speeds of tempo on it that you can listen to while you're on the range.
it helped me, i found it good for taking my mind off too many swing thoughts and just focusing on tempo.

I got one for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it has worked wonders. Tempo better than ever and ball striking much improved. I've set mine to 60BPM. I've got the Quick Time QT7 really loud but also has an earphone socket so you can use it on the range. I'd highly recommend getting one if tempo is a problem :)

I got the app for my iPhone and none of the tones seem to be fast enough for me :(

I dont mean to sound rude but isnt that the point? to slow you down a bit?

I know that, but it just feels far too slow to the point where it wrecked any sort of tempo I had.

I've got Tour Tempo on my ipod but it doesn't work for me as the tones are too quick. I've always had a slow backswing and speeding it up just feels wrong.

i used the tour tempo app and it worked wonders for me. improvement was almost overnight - took 4 shots off the handicap over two weeks...

sounds like its not for everyone mind you. like all these things...

The tour tempo app is great. I've also found, strange as this may sound, that the We All Stand together song has a part which can work for some people.

The part at 42-46secs has the same 3/1 ratio timing as tour tempo and is nearly spot on to the 27/9 tour tempo timing.

Take away on the first frog, start downswing on the second, ball contact on the third frog.

True, using tour tempo those frogs kept coming into my head...

Any high handicap reading this and in any doubt as to whether it works...it does. Played my brothers track today and tee to green one of my best ever games and it's all thanks to the metronome. Short game was hit andmiss but ball striking and control significantly better.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, has anyone got any new gadgets or apps that are any good?
Recently heard about it thinking I was on to something new lol

Just checked out Tour Tempo in the App Store. Looks good, but £17.49? Seems like a lot of money for something that just counts a beat, especially as there seems to be quite a few free metronome apps avaiable, or am I missing something?
My pro advocates using a metronome, especially for putting.
