Whatever your yearly/monthly fees are,

Do you get value for money?

Can you justify the outlay?

How much golf do you need to play to break even?

Help me out here, as I’m getting the excuses in hahaha

I am moving to Woking soon and trying to persuade the Boss the outlay on paying for a membership :D :p

p.s I’ve never been a member anywhere.

£65 per mth, great value for money, expect Id need to play once a week to make it cheap, I play a lot more than that then add in practise facilities comps etc

If you're moving to a new area then you will have few friends there and becoming a golf club member will make that far easier ;)

£385 a year for the next 3 years (until I'm 30) which works out at just over £32 a month or £8 a week. I have to play less than once a week to break even for the year.

It's fantastic value for money as we have fairly good practice facilities, a full 18 hole course as well as an 18 hole par 3 course.

It's about a 25 minute drive from my house to the golf club but this is balanced out by the fact it's at least £600 more to join a golf club that's nearer that's the same quality and enjoyable test of golf.

I've been looking at memberships recently, never been a member anywhere before, but i want to get a handicap and play in comps etc, just need to justify the expense to my better half, i practice at least once a week and try to play 3 or 4 times a month, but so far i've found nothing that would justify the expense, still, its fun looking, especially on work time. :)

Works out at 60 a month for me, there are closer ones about the same price but are not playable all year round. In the summer I go at least 3 times a week, 2 9 holes or practice and 1 or 2 18 holes.

In the winter I go 2 times a week.

I feel I get fantastic value for money as the membership offers much more than just golf. The whole social side and competitive side of golf is opened up. Many occasional golfers do not see this other side of club golf, I have made some good friends and got so much more back than I have put in!

96 euro a year :D
It would cost me 15 a round for casual green fees, so by playing 7 rounds i get my money back! :p
So i easily make my money's worth! I play 1-2 times a week, and my exams finish next week so i have 1 month of golf in which i will play every other day ! :D

Just explain to your good lady that 'It appears golf lessens my sex drive!'

She will even carry your clubs out to the car - cheque in hand for the new membership!

Problem solved.

my membership is at a P&P at the moment, and its working out stupidly expensive. there is rumours about a 7 day ticket coming into fource but if they dont sort it soon ill will have left before it does.

Subs £60.00
Discount Card for green fee's £25.00
Saturday Sunday Green Fee - £24.00
Weekday Green Fee - £20.00
Total cost £1333

Then factor in the extra's.

20 Comps @ £2.00 - £40.00
52 Weekly Swindle Entries @ £5.00 - £260.00
52 Range Session(no practice ground) @ £6.00 - £312.00
Around 15-20 summer twilights @ £12.00 - £240.00
Extra's £852.00

so about £2185 ish.

You have to look at golf club membership as more than just the number of times you'll play golf in a year. It's far more than that if you get involved and use the club and catering facilities on a regular basis.
:D

£750 per years, and at £30 a pop, I have to play 25 times a year for it to break even. Even if I compare it to one of the local Municipals @ £15 per round, I would have to play 50 times. Bearing in mind that I play 2-3 times per week through summer and once a week through winter, I reckon it's a bargain... And thats not including the social side, the comps, the quality of the course, Oh, and did I mention the social side...

Hi,

Where abouts in Woking are you moving too. I live right near there.
Have you got any courses in mind.

:D

If i added that DCB, id seriously sh*t a brick!

I will be moving to Knaphill in July/Aug.

I know there are many lovely courses around there, but are also expensive. I have used PineRidge’s driving range from time to time as it’s a 10 min drive from there.

Any suggestions Cah?

£1000 for the year.
£19.23 per week so 1 round a fortnight pays for the green fee.

26 rounds a year covers the fee..... I've doubled that already!! :)

Oddsocks at nearly £1500 of fees I wouldn't even wait there must be a club you can join that would be cheaper?

My fees are £750 and green fees are £36 weekend and £32 midweek so need to play about twenty times to break even. I play at least once a week and use the practise facilities once a week. If can average the 52 rounds a year then works out at £14 a round which can't be sniffed at.

Have any of you seen the De Vere Club membership £295 for the year and you get 100 points each round is about 6-8 points a lot less in the afternoon and you get to play all the De Vere courses and you can top up when/if you use the 100 points. A friend has taken it up and thinks it's brilliant.

£45 a month for 5-day membership
Generally 2 rounds, sometimes 3 a week + practice on the short course.
Green fee is 20ish so I'm already quids in having played 40 rounds this year.
