Tour Winner
As promised last week here a few random observations about playing golf here in NZ.
If you're coming over on holiday it will be very cheap due to exchange rate and on the whole it is loads cheaper than UK but you have to remember we're earning the Kiwi Dollar now and wages here compared to UK are rubbish. But having said that we pay way less for full membership for our club Windsor than we did for Bridgnorth and NO joining fee, working out at $30 dollars a month each so at current exchange rates around £12 give or take.
Today played 10 holes in shorts and Tee shirt, yes tee shirt, rules a lot more relaxed for course wear, jeans acceptable at most clubs as are collarless shirts.
Weather lot better here generally although it did get very hot in the summer, high 30's!!!
Courses are generally shorter and in metres and of the ones we've played can vary from very boring to stunningly beautiful, Wanaka for one.
Kiwis are great to play along side with but can be lacking in etiquette sometimes, mostly talking when it's your shot etc etc and play can be horrendously slow too, 4 hours for a medal
We are loving the golf here and as the Winter approaches Mrs Upsidedown and I are looking forward to playing some Mixed matches
Will report more as and when
Happy hacking
