Today I was out and at our par 3 7th hole I chipped up to about 2 inches and went to tap it in with the PW after I pulled the pin out for the other 3 guys to putt up.
Now generally when we play anything within 18inches if you are not standing on anyones line we finish out.
So as I was about to tap my ball in one of the other 3 (a playing pro) yells as I had just taken the wedge back and literally startled me and I kind of stood up and the wedge came back towards the ball and the face had opened completely and just touched the ball on the side facing me and moved it along the edge of the hole but still remaing 2 inches away from the lip. Costing me a shot/point. He said its cos it was over 6 inches away and didnt want me to miss it but the other 2 guys, his boss (my coach pro) and an asst actually said it was only an inch away.

On the 8th the same guy teed up first and proceeded to severely pull one left OOB.

The golf gods must have been watching and gave him payback whilst giving me another 6 points on 8th and 9th to have 25 total and become clubhouse leader in our 9 hole winter league comp hehehe

Hope you were not holding the pin when you played your stroke?

apparently you can hole out now whilst holding the pin.i was told this earlier on in the year,i had a 2" putt and my playing partner said you can hold the pin if you want,i didn't because it felt awkward but whether this is true or not i don't know.

he seemed serious with what he said and he's not the type to take the mick but maybe he was.

As long as its not resting on the ground is ok I think or so I was told

Yes i was holding the flag and it was not touching the ground, i assume that part is meant when it says not used for assistance as in to balance yourself with.

A player may hold the flagstick with one hand and tap their ball into the hole with the other. But they should make sure that they remove the flagstick so that their ball does not strike it and may not use it for assistance.
Decision 17-1/5.

Anyway another guy had 25pts today with a better last 3 holes, so got moved into 2nd place, on reflection and having gone over the 9 holes I played with the guy who yelled will not be playing with him again if i can so help it.
Even his Boss(my coach pro) was quite shocked at his etiquette over the 9 holes, Taking the honour a few times when he shouldn't have, the one i noticed was he had a bogey on the 8th while my coach had birdie and myself and the assistant had a par yet he went straight onto the 9th tee-box.

His severe competitiveness actually makes him an unpleasant playing partner like not even trying to look for the assistants ball on one of the holes as he was playing well. Which then makes me myself wonder did he yell on purpose, even if it had been a 6 inch putt as he said, it was on a temporary green which had a flowerpot hole of 6 inches diameter
