you have removed the 'assuming it doesn't get damaged' bit so I wouldn't have any other reason to change it!

otoh - it may get changed after a trip to a bunker embeds sand grains in the cover, landing on a road, hitting a bridge (streamside) etc

but fundamentally I have changed from 3 new new ones per competitive round to one will normally do.

average , ?? well i guess 1 would be very wishful thinking , put it this way , i would hope to finish most rounds wih the one i started with .. to loose 2 balls would be hard to take (it has hapened tho) , dont think ive ever lost 3 .. (stat maintained mainly to the eagle eyed smange .. i think it may have been quiet a few that fateful day on the last few holes , except for Stephens help )

Average 1.2 ??? or there abouts

I'm excluding lost balls - do you ever change your ball to "benefit" from a new ball like the pros seem to do?

does anybody change their ball because they feel a new ball will perform better?

just thought it was very interesting pros use 5 on average.

I think if you do that you're looking for something to blame.

Pros get through more as they, I would imagine due to the quality of striking with irons and wedges, would scuff up more, hence the more frequent change.

I had the same pro V for 3 rounds or so and decided last week it was time for it to move to the practice bag.

This is a good test of "did you read the opening post"!

I chose one, I have no supersition and I do not change a ball just because a hole has water/OB/deep rough on it and I might loose it. I also do switch from distance to spin balls for par 3s and vice versa for par 5s.

One ball per round, thats it until it wanders off for a nap hidden somewhere

Yep I didn't read it properly at the start. I use a different ball on a few holes. One being the 3rd as running all along the side of the hole is a wood the the par 3s use a different ball and then on the holes with water. I prob lose about 4-5 balls on a round. Costs me more a month in balls than in membership haha

Being a non bandit high handicapper I'd expect to loose at least one per round although I've used the same ball for the last 2 rounds now. Typical its a cheap srixon distance. The minute I move back to proV's I'll be certain to loose on off the 2nd tee (impossible to loose one of the first)

I once went 125 consecutive holes without losing a ball.
The ball I began with, (Callaway HX HOT PLUS), was retired after 100 holes & sits on my desk as a reminder of the feat that I will NEVER repeat.
And yes..........it's scuffed to buggery!

Slime.

I lose less than 5 a year, and if its good enough for a 2nd or 3rd round it get's played. And even then it may get used in a knock about. Then it get consigned to the practice bag.
