Guys,
If any of you are considering flying to Ireland to play golf in the next year or so, how much of a turn-off is paying 50 to 60 quid to carry your bags in the hold? Is it enough to stop you golfing in Ireland?

It seems mad to pay more for your clubs to fly than it costs you

We did it 2 and 3 years ago to Limerick then Dublin it was only £25 then this time we got the ferry to Larne from Troon when going to Portstewart which worked out cheaper .
Yes your correct its a total rip of and puts us of from coming back to Southern Ireland.

If there are 4 traveling the cheaper option is driving and getting the ferry if you have a sutiable car saves on car hire in Ireland and the cost of the baggage on the flight, its the only way Airlines make money is on the baggage is it that bad if you get a flight for almost nothing to pay 70 for the bags if they told you the flight were 90 and bags were free you would be happy enough.

I went to Donegal about 4 weeks ago for a golf break. It worked out a lot cheaper to get the ferry.Problem then is the length of the drive up to Cairnryan and back for a long weekend away. When we go next year we are looking at flying and hiring a car - all depends how much we can get it for, obviously
