Goals For 2023

Rejoin my old club, attend a few more meets, enjoy my golf.

Keeping it simple.

Would love to commit to a more intense plan but the fast approaching wedding is screwing the first 6 months of the year.

Immediate aim is to get some consistency back with long irons and driver, they have gone to pieces over the last month or so.

Longer term, I'd like to get to 14 this year, that would give me a shot a hole at our place. Went down from 20 to 17 last year, so I'd like to think it's a realistic target.

Goals get fit and stay for the whole season, enjoy it more + play more new courses and improve a rising handicap from 3.3 back down south !

Not many seasons left in the tank or mind. #Scratch@50 perfect

Stop tinkering with my swing.

Be a better putter.

Don't buy any new clubs.

Finish the season with a lower handicap than what it was when it started (3.7)

Get to single figures. As every year...

And to win a prize. Any prize.

Yet to achieve the first, generally though not always achieve the second, with 2022 above average as I won two.

Dunno if it's a 'goal' but I want to update my driver this year
My heart wants the mizuno St 220 x (and a recent forray into the world of professional caddying means I'm not really paying anything for it, so it's a free upgrade) haven't hit it yet but its that or the ping g410

I'm at 13.7, I reckon I could get down to 11 or even 10, but single figure might be too much of a stretch.

Mostly though, with a baby on the way end of Jan, I'll just be happy enough if I can still play by the springtime. I'm hopeful of still being able to play at least 3 times a month to keep my membership somewhat worthwhile.

This year I did a first golf trip away with mates so another goal is to get another one in the diary and make that a yearly thing going forward. And hopefully go to at least two forum meets.

I actually came down a couple shots after the birth of my first. I was that happy to just be on a golf course I never had a negative thought all season. Didn't happen with subsequent arrivals however.

4.3 at the start of 2021 (13 scores entered in 2021)
3.9 at the start of 2022 (20 scores entered in 2022)
3.3 at the start of 2023...

So I guess... Getting a cut to anywhere sub 3.0 would be good.

-I've had +1 gross 3 times in my life I think, so level par/under par.
-A hole in one (ffs)
-Not bottle it in a major club comp for a change

I’m about to start a new job, which will see me both move away from shift work to a more stable 9-5, but also commuting into London for the first time.

Given this, and most of my golf for the last five years being midweek, my only real aim this year is “play as much as I can”. I don’t think I’ll be able to play more. Certainly not as much as I have been. I’d also like to play a few more “nice” courses, but as it stands it looks like any course will do!

I can’t tell you how much this driver has helped my driving . Love it

Sort out my iron striking to regain lost distance.

Sub 75 round at home club

Play 3 new courses

I’m looking at one at the moment. My bad shot from the tee is a block rather than a slice, but it’s a consistent issue which I don’t have with other clubs in my bag. The ST-X seems to fit the bill.

How has is helped you? Some feedback would be useful before I splash the cash.

Maintain a single digit handicap once the weather improves, currently 8.5 but that's likely to increase due to winter golf.

Keep practicing the short game.

Win a club competition.

play more golf, second son was born in May and only managed to play 4 rounds all year.

Would love to get membership as well, likely a points based one.

Got some a new shiny driver and want to get to hit it more

My goals:
Practice more
Get handicap below 20
Break 90

all of the above! plus

Go to at least one tournament - managed the Aramco last year, criminal how cheap the tickets were, how few spectators were there compared to how amazing the golf was

Manage at least one long weekend golf trip, ideally two / three

Play golf at at least three new courses

GBC

P.s can't promise not to buy any new clubs...

Break 100!!

But first, get what minimal swing I had, back.

Would like to get an official handicap as well. And maybe then, I'll treat myself to some new sticks...
