Reading that rory spent a grand getting his ‘usual’ driver/FW sent to him by taxi the other week when he decided to drop the new gear mid-comp

What lengths have you gone to mid-game to correct/sort out a problem or issue with your gear?

I once asked my wife to come to the club & bring driver wrench from home when the head got loose mid-round, and then one of the staff drove out to the hole I was on so I could tighten it.
Another time she walked home to get my forgotten sunglasses and bring them back while I warmed up
Also I had to buy a pro-shop priced golf cap at the turn when the new one I was wearing was too tight (non-adjustable)

You?

@Slab you have a very accommodating wife. My errors are my own and I have had to suck them all up 😄

My brother in law once forgot his golf shoes at a corporate day once, hotel course. He had to buy a new pair at hotel pro shop prices, even worse than a cap. His regular shoes were fairly new as well so he didn't really need another pair. That hurt him when he told the story.

Ignoring the fact that the pro shop prob had a driver wrench already, I'm really impressed with your wife's commitment to maximise your happiness. If I asked my wife to do either of those tasks I would expect an incredulous stare and some choice words :ROFLMAO:

I've never done anything mid-round to fix a problem, I just deal with what I've got in my bag on the day.

This happened to a friend of mine. He praised the guys in the pro shop for sorting him out and giving him a great deal on the shoes. It wasn't until half way round that he realised the shoes were different sizes :ROFLMAO:

I forgot my shoes when I visited Hollinwell so a new pair had to be procured. The good thing about shoes is that they don't go off and you won't grow out of them, they only wear out if you use them.

I'm also very impressed at how helpful Mrs Slab is! Has she got any sisters? ;)

What size of feet do you have? I'm size 10, and often have 4/5 pairs of shoes in the boot. I have 3 pairs of the same brand, but different colours. I remember another member at my last club forgot his shoes, and the relief on his face when I said I had some in my car, and that he was roughly the same foot size.

Forgot my putter playing an open, Had been practicing on the putting mat in the house and left it leaning against the wall. the shop only had Scotty Cameron's so they let me borrow one, never used a blade putter before. my putter was one of those odyssey fang things at the time. putted well with it a purchased it, that was maybe 17 years ago, still have in the bag now.

Forgotten shoes twice and had to buy new ones. The dilemma is do you buy the cheapest ones to get through the day or expensive ones that you will use on a regular basis 🤦‍♀️

Can you get some size 11s in the boot for next time I forget? Thanks.

Way back in 1988 I went to Cornwall for a weeks golf and left my shoes at home. Had to buy a pair when we got there. £100 for a pair of Footjoys that absolutely crippled me with blisters all week. At that time I was only paid £400 a month so to see a quarter of my monthly pay go on a pair of golf shoes……😳

Can understand shoes but how do you forget your clubs?😂
I'd say that would be easy. Mine normally live in the car, but might take them out in rare occasions. Easy to forget to put them back in, when it isn't part of the routine.

Although, if a person only forgot their clubs, but remembered their bag, that would be another matter entirely :)

My uncle had to do that at an away day, bought the best ones they had in the shop....he'd actually got his shoes in the car and just forget he'd put them in.

I've almost got the full set and all on corporate days :)

Forgot battery - had to hire a trolley (not a carry bag)
Forgot clubs - Very kind starter loaned his (not at all suitable for me but at least I played that day)
Forgot change of clothes - St Georges Hill GC so no chance of getting away with it as 18 holes am, change for lunch, 18 holes pm and change for sandwiches and prizes. Had to ring other half and then office who arranged courier to collect and deliver. Had trouble getting that through on expenses :)

Not a round of golf, but I was going to my first presentation evening and turned up to pick up my mate, just wearing smart casual. When I got to his, he was suited up, and said that was the dress code. So, he lent me a suit. It was that tight, it looked like it had been spray painted on me.

Turned up at the event, and we were the only ones wearing a suit.

The battery on my golf trolley gave up the ghost after the 6th hole. It had been fully charged but it just died on me. I rang the pro and he was able to bring out a rental trolley to me so I could carry on in comfort. Ours is a pretty hilly course to push around a loaded electric trolley.
