Some folk eh ?

Every phone in Central Scotland giving an emergency red storm warning and my grand daughter reports customers in her M&S food shop panic buying frozen food.

Me, I tested my 20 year old camping stove and panic bought a new cannister ahead of the expected power cuts.

My daughter was on the train home when all the phones went off, she said the reaction was scary.

Nice text from my insurers to say they have me covered.

What was interesting about the alert is that the phone sounded loudly and ones first instinct was to try and stop the sound which meant I couldn't read the alert as there is no message stored.

Well that was a wild night, seems to have settled down a bit now.
All seems well apart from a few full potted plants which I foolishly placed on the outdoor seat cover,
Must have taken some force to blow them off.
Couple of local villages higher up the wee glen have power cuts.

I've come in to work today, NE coast of England. It was blowy on the roads but nothing too bad. I got out at work and the gusts were definitely feisty. I will be in for an hour, 2 at most and then heading back as it is supposed to build here in the afternoon. I passed some lorries on the road, they really should not be. I feel for the drivers, it can't be safe.

Bit windy overnight, rain this morning. Pretty pathetic so far compared to Darragh.

Weirdly the weather looks great tomorrow, when I'm playing golf, then torrential rain again Sunday. I've got used to that happening the other way round.

Took the dog to the garden for a wizz. Trees blowing like crazy. Lots of standing water about. Free relief. Carry on.
I don't mind an oul storm. Sitting in bed with the curtains open watching the fun and games outside.
My other half has been fretting all night and hardly got a winks sleep. I slept like a baby.

My lad was in Glasgow Uni library, and naturally everybody's phone went off at the same time.

funnily enough it is flat calm here today, i think the worst is south of us. better be gone by tomorrow afternoon we are supposed to be flying to Portugal on Sunday morning:mad:

Don’t think the far sarf had red warnings did it?

Suppose a lot is where it hits,
Darragh was a mere zephyr here.

We cancelled all deliveries today.

No, yellow warning I think. Yellow warning basically just means make sure your bins are in. Sunday and Monday look pretty bad, heavy rain and gusts up to 40 & 50 mph. But that's the worst of it.

Thats not too bad then.

Currently pretty violent here, several fences down, be surprised if the neighbour’s 50 year old apple tree survives it looking at it swaying and looks like a few folk have lost roof tiles along the street.

And according to Met Office, the worst is yet to hit.

Yeah our back garden fence is still lying down from Darragh. Should probably get on with that.

I used cross braced posts underground to add stability when I built mine. Really does make it strong.

Along the side of the house is a wind tunnel so I added metal eyes to the fence and the house wall and use metal bars with hooked ends to brace the fence to the house when it’s really windy.

Seems to work as we’re one of only two houses that haven’t lost a fence since I built it.
