Storm Eowyn

BBC video showing the effects of the storm, it don’t look good at all up north. The clip finished by showing people walking in London with there umbrellas up. 😡 some people are born thick.

Bit windy overnight, rain this morning. Pretty pathetic so far compared to Darragh.

Weirdly the weather looks great tomorrow, when I'm playing golf, then torrential rain again Sunday. I've got used to that happening the other way round.

Yeah we have avoided most down here however just incase I forced the battery to charge a bit and set the reserve to not drop below 20% incase the power does drop out . Gets us few a fair few hours if the worst happens and can run a cable from the car if that ran out to just keep the fridge going

My familty are in N Ireland, they seem to have had an eventful time. Aunt and uncle entire back garden fence destroyed, and uncle's office in Belfast had windows blown through and so carnage in there, with everything blown all over the place. Mum's friend's neighbour's house had a tree fall through roof and pretty much slice the house in half. And a friend posted on facebook this morning that he couldn't wait until the sun came out, so he could see where his greenhouse blew off to.

Whereas in East Midlands, I noticed an empty wheelie bin had been blown over.

It's really hitting us now. House is being shaken by the gusts. Mrs work is 3 miles away at Forth ports Rosyth and they've just sent an alert out that gusts are peaking at 92mph and people working are basically stuck there for now as they are locking the plant down.

Was forecast to be calming down by this point but it seems to be getting worse. Next door have lost 3 of their 4 fences and their garage door is bent out of shape, looks like the wind has gotten under it and twisted it. Guy over the road has just sold his house (sold sign went up on Tuesday) and he's now missing nearly all of his ridge tiles and a lot of the pitch tiles which are lying smashed on his driveway.
Over the back have lost their shed roof and part of their fence is down (but he's a prick anyway so that's fine). Elderly neighbour on the other side has lost part of the little gazeebo her late husband put up a couple of years ago, but I've said I'll rebuild it over the weekend (assuming it's calmed down sufficiently).

All that from a bit of wind eh?!

Roof just blown off the house!

We have not had the problems this time, luckily. I bought myself a camping gas stove many years and it has been used many times , I also bought myself an inverter a few years ago and it has been used several times.

The problem is with the overhead lines that feed the village and we sometimes get cuts that last a few hours.

Given the age of our course we normally get some damage with the trees. Sadly it never seems to be the trees go that I would like to see go :ROFLMAO:

I think that we could potentially have a few trees down at Aberdour. There's a sycamore on the path from 2nd to 3rd that's dodgy at the best of times and a large beech that's been looking ropey of late.

Wonder if they would sell them to me for raw lumber... 😂

A bone of contention with some our members is that they never get the chance to have the logs.

The last of the villages on our area had their electricity restored yesterday afternoon.
Scottish Power have done a tremendous job in the circumstances.
All 6 regions of Scotland affected at once, that has never happened before.
We had half of our village out for 5 days. We spent the last two in an hotel.
Crazy situation of the suppliers being unable to contact their customers as all internet, phones etc were out.
If you had no means of heat ie gas, log fire you had to grin and bear it, Most rural villages in Scotland do not have gas connections

Culzean Castle estate had over 250 mature trees flattened, They were right in the middle of the storm path.
