Hey guys,

Anyone here a GM subscriber? Just clicked on the 'subscribe' link on the GM home page and realised how much cheaper it is - just £2.90 per issue compared to the £4.10 cover price.

I also notice it's cheaper to go for the 6 month option rather than the lengthy 12 month or 24 month option - strange! :p

The lower price is to encourage direct debit sign up which is logistically much easier for us and easier to keep on renewing (which is of course what we want you to do!) for you

And then in your second year they want to tonk you for £40.

Serious inconsistencies with renewing DD and subs so I canceled mine.

I thought everyone on the forum was a subscriber/buyer ;) I subscribe due to the cut price offer compared to buying from the newsagents.

...which is still a 20+ percent reduction on the cover price (£52).
Like any business that works on a renewal (insurance, Sky TV, utlities, gym etc) we offer our very best deals to first timers to encourage sign up, then offer good reductions off the standard rate for those readers who are loyal to the mag and renew. Come to think of it there is one renwal business that doesn't reward loyalty by offering a reduced fee in year 2 and onwards...golf clubs. Maybe something to think about to help address falling membership rates?

...always keen to hear where we're going wrong Andy so please do let me know and I'll do my best to make sure the service to subscribers looking to renew is as smooth as it can be.

I'll take out a new subscription from my wife or next door etc ;)

:D just like drug dealers give you it cheap to get you hooked then hike up the price :D :D

Mike, I will just take out another 6 month subby. I know what your saying about insurance ect but when your renewal is due you can shop round for cheaper insurance but with GM i dont want to shop around for a cheaper mag I want the best deal for GM. I aint pissed with it I am just a tight sweaty sock.

Andy is indeed right. there's nothing to stop you not renewing at the standard Direct Debit price and taking up a different option if you think its a better bet. At the end of the day we just want to keep you reading the mag!
