• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

GM Match Scotland v England

Either venue would be fine by me. My initial West coast suggestion was based entirely on access from South via M6.

Not played either before so it would be good wherever we play.

I may only be able to make the one day, there may be others in that situation,so I hope that it wouldn't be held against me :o

Late Feb would be good for me, preferably a Friday so that Saturday remains a possibility.

Goswick it is then yes??? Someones going to have to take the bull by the horns and just decide. Friday the 13th??? hmmm I'm a bit sceptical. :D

13th/14th sounds good to me.

I cant go north of the M25 without full preparation,

14th Feb dont sound good, but the course would be quiet????

I am also up for a car share, but the top speed on my car is about 90mph, Will discuss it on the weekend guys.......

I'd be keen. Do we not have amongst us someone based in the Wishaw or East Kilbride area.
I'm be happy to make it to Goswick....I dread to think how us parkland players would get on!!

If Feb i'm definately in. Don't do school hols or I may struggle to get time off as a few of the guys who normally cover for me take school hols (with pleasure)
Either course for me.

Can I throw another idea open? If travel a problem, what about a train to Leeds/Doncaster/York/Manchester and hire a minibus between us "roadtrip". This could cut the journey in half and allows us to "get to know each other"

Or the guys down sarrrf could hire a Mini bus and pick us up on the way through :D

Booze bus? "The venga bus is coming and every bodys jumping" sorry guys, will hand my head in shame.

everytime ive been to southerness there has been a gale force wind and that includes the summer, goswick looks the better course

depending on the interest that may make more sense for southern boys to hire a minbus (does MWJ have any contacts?) although that makes the drive LOOOOng!

Either way, it's got to make sense, rather than 6/7/8 cars going up

We would have to do pick ups in services, get droped off by our H.I.D`s And find someone with a mini bus liscence, I aint doing mine until next May so I cant drive the bus.

I'd definitely be up for that. Two rounds sounds good. How about a Ryder Cup style match, fourballs on friday followed by singles on saturday!!!!!

IMO psv licence is only required with paying customers (i will check with contacts) so minibus should be ok.
I do believe that you could drive a double decker as long as the passengers don't pay, unless the law has changed in the last 15 years (neighbour used to take juvenile jazz band to comps) until I decked him (no pun intended) he used to parked in front of my drive.
I have driven 12 on a stag do on my licence.

I have services less than a mile from home but route would have to be planned prior to start to make A -B the shortest possible route
