Ok. I'll start it off.

On another post DCB, TonyN and I have been chatting about a GM get together early next year between the Scots boys and the English boys, principally based in the northwest. All would of course be welcome to participate. So how about it? Who's in?

Date. Probably February?
Venue. Either Southerness Golf Club in Dumfries and Galloway;-

or Goswick Links Golf Club (Home to Dodger and IMO2) near Berwick upon Tweed

http://www.goswicklinksgc.co.uk/

An overnight stay would be the plan. Sure we could find a cheap B&B near either venue at that time of year. Golf followed by banter and beers.

Format. A grand match. Probably fourball team event. Scotland v England

Do we have any takers? What's are your preferences, guys?

We'd keep it as cheap and convenient for everyone as possible. Probably a Friday or Saturday.

Either for me,both have pros and cons,Southerness easier for many travel wise possibly? I aint been there so would be nice to play another track.Cost wise I would I am sure be able to secure a better packaage at Goswick than Southerness could do and B&B wise would be easy done.Weather wise East coast every time.Date wise also I would have to check this with the club But I think that we may also get to play off back pegs at winter price regardless of it being Feb 0r April.

I am in, looking at the two of them I have to say Goswick would be my choice (even though its not Scotland, and my intention was to play there)

Should have the new irons by then (hopefullY) :D

I'm excited, lets do it.

Hi guys
Either course would be fine for me but would prefer to play midweek if possible could play same day as arriving then after a few beers at the bar another game in the morning to prove that it was no walk over.

It still looks like a 6 hour drive for us real southerners. Would take car sharing, total dedication and possible use of a time machine. May be best left to the Northern boys (who are nearly scottish anyway).

According to google maps it'll take the boys who are based around Chester 4 hours and 15 minutes to drive to Goswick, 3 and a half hours to Southerness. It's a hike for many of us either way so I think that a Friday or Saturday would be best option, don't you?

Given that J_F has offered the use of his legendary organisation skills, the above is a distinct possibility.

The weekend sounds great especially if a large drinking session is factored in. Count me in !

That sounds like a good plan, Sammebee. Great chance to play with more guys we've not met. too.

With two rounds of golf.... and Dodger and IMO2 being members... Goswick would probably be the better option then, wouldn't it?

What kind of deal do you think you could get, Dodger, for say 16 guys?

I think finance wise Goswick has to be the best option, the more money saved on green fee the more folk have in their pockets for what ever they wish to spend it on.I will leave it up to you all to decide on venue but as said before if at Goswick I would be happy to organise golf at hopefully mates rates and give input on accommo etc.A Friday time would be easy done as should a Sat am time if plenty notice given to arrange should that be the plan of attack.

Google maps reckoned it as 5 hours 45. Could probably get it down a bit by driving at warp speed I suppose, but it is 327 miles to Goswick, so even at 90 it will take 3 and a half, and that isn't realistic as it won't all be motorway.

I could be interested if there is a car share, but only on a Friday/Saturday/weekendy type thing.
