Right that's it I'm fed up with my rubbish bunker play and have downloaded the bunker videos on the GM app. I'm now scared of airmailing the green so have taken to leaving the ball in the sand instead. Found a greenside bunker twice in nine holes last night and took three shots to get out on both occasions AND to add insult to injury I took three and then two putts to get the ball in the hole!!!

Exasperation doesn't come close. Got lots of golf the next couple of weeks so hoping this app will help me as much as a video I viewed recently on chipping. Three up and downs last night - unheard of for me!

I'll let you know how I get on but has anyone else found the GM app useful?

PS and before anyone asks if the video app fails I'll be off to see my pro

Could just not put it in the Bunker in the first place Tiger..... :D :D :D :D :D

1st rule of Bunker play - get it out!!
Good Luck Pal. :D

Tell me about it!! Keep pulling my approaches and ending up in traps on the left of the green arrrgh!

Hope this works as it's the major achilles heel at the moment

It's the only part of my game that any good! Open face and align stance left of target, commit to swing and pop it out, about an inch behind ball.

Have used this before and worked most of the time but then started airmailing the green and now started quitting on the shot because I'm scared of airmailing the green. Gary Smith suggests keeping everything square so we'll see what happens! Thanks for the helpful advice.

Hi Tiger,i used to have a few dodgy moments getting out of bunkers, but now i quite like them.My problem was the bounce on my wedge,it had a 4 bounce 60 degree, that was the problem it kept digging in,ideal for short shots but very inconsistent and i ended up hitting it so hard just to get it out.Now i use my 54 degree 8 bounce and its ideal, great for the longer shot and if i need a shorter shot i just hit it softer. What bounce and club do you use?

I have always played out of bunkers with a square stance, opening the clubface dependant on the height/ length of shot required. Play the ball 2inches forward from sternum and swing easy.

Something else I have always done is when I bed my feet in, I bed my back foot so my big toe is deeper than my little. Help me keep my legs quiet.

Good luck anyhoos.

Stance aims approx 5 yards, but its personal. Make a WIDE stance, wider than your shoulders. Shuffle your feet in a bit. Open the clubface up to your target. Swing along the line of your feet ( ie left of target ). Ball position 2inches infront of sternum due to the arc of the swing.

All from the county coach so it cant really be wrong.

My problem with bunkers is lack of practice. We have so few bunkers on our course for various reasons and I very rarely land in one!
Found a couple at Aztec's place last wekend and managed one decent out and one thin. I know how to do it, it's just not doing it often enough....

Thanks for the advice guys. Looking at the videos tonight but based on the crib notes it looks like he advocates a square stance. PJ I vary the club depending on my lie and distance to the pin but often it's my SW 56.11 or GW 52.08. Just hope this works!!!

Imurg we've got some practice bunkers but if you practice the wrong thing it does you no favours! Fingers are crossed
