last few rounds I've played against players using the Garmin S2/S3 and Skycaddie I've found the S1 to be anything up to 10 yards out, not a huge distance but makes a difference if it's under 170yds to go.

Anyone else notice this or have I a faulty one

I have last years S1. My playing partner has this years S1. there is often a 10 yard difference between ours.......go figure.

I had an S1 and sold it because it was so far out with it's yardages.
It would say I had 158 to go and I'd come up 40 yards short with a wedge everytime.
Bloody thing.
my mate has that issue...whereas my older one seems much more accurate. his is the newer model.

you need to walk the difference in to the front edge of the green to find what's causing the error - it's extremely unlikely to be the GPS engine ie the unit knows where it is accurately, and most likely to be poorly mapped course data. This will show up with it showing 10 yards to go to the front edge when you are already standing there! If it suddenly jumps it's distances and correct to match the yardage on the way in then it suggests a faulty GPS; possibly an internal aerial issue.

Wouldn't you have been better off selling the wedge?

Mine seems pretty accurate. I'm not a good enough golfer for a need for exact accuracy and the S1 works well for me.

My pal had a problem with his S1 last week though. It was showing 210 to the middle whilst he was standing next to the 150 yard marker and he was relying on the S1 being accurate so he pulled out his 5 wood. When I asked him what he was playing at using a 5 wood, he told me what the S1 was saying. I asked for a look and pointed out that it was ten past two and he needed to flick back to the distances rather than the time. When he did that - he found he had 146 yards to the middle
