I'm looking to get a pair of GG trousers, they do two models, the Alf and the August.

The Alf are lined and have fabric zips with storm flaps whereas the August are paclite with the rubberised zips. I'm tempted by the Alf's, has anyone used them and if so, had any problems with water getting through the fabric zips?

Many thanks guys.

I've got the non paclite, worn them in some real downpours, been fine. had them a year so far so good.

i think mine are the alf and they are heavier than pacelite but are really good in winter keeping you warm. ive a mizzy pair which are very light and are good in the summer but dont keep me warm in winter

So they have the fabric zips and have been watertight?

Cheers patrick, that's good enough for me

yep just checked the box (still in my golf crap room) and its the Alf i've got. Not problems with them at all. narrow cut leg is the only issue, something youngsters like at the moment, i prefer them a little wider.

I've got the alf trouser and they have never leaked there is a velco flap over the zip. My only problem is the pockets peak and once in torrential rain the pockets were wet on the inside. The water never came through the trousers so I was still dry but my hanky etc were soaked!!

I had this dilemma when I bought my Galvin Green jacket, didn't know whether to go for performance shell or paclite. In the end I went for paclite as it was easier to swing in. Ok it's not lined like the performance but I bought it to keep dry not warm, if I need more warmth I just layer up.
So if was me I would go for August which are paclite rather than Alf which are performance. You don't want to be too hot in the summer when we get showers. If you need more warmth just layer up.
My mine concern was to keep dry and something that was easy to swing it.

I got the Alf - wouldn't swap for anything else. Dry as a bone. But if you wear them over ordinary trews when it rains in summer, can get a mite warm around the nethers. Absolutely fantastic in winter.

just read the info about both types of tech then pick what you fancy. either way you will be happy

Tried both on in AG, would be happy with either to be honest. If it's wet I tend not to wear trousers, just waterproofs from the start so getting too hot shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Thanks for all your replies guys
