Here's the situation, bought some UA storm 3 trousers early summer, nice fit but I got completely soaked at Moor Allerton and they didn't fare well at all. It doesn't help that I carry my bag normally which means it's resting on my jacksie for most of the round.
Fast forward to yesterday, dug out my old Proquip trousers and they were even worse, I looked like I'd suffered from a weak bladder mid round 😰
I'm considering getting a pair of gore-tex trousers for my birthday next month, what are the current recommendations?
Galvin Green blah blah, Adidas?
How do people find the paclite trousers compared to 2 layer.
Oh aye, they MUST have their own front/side pockets, the UA ones just have the zips which let you access your normal trouser pockets.

I swear by my Proquip Aquastorm. Water just runs off them. 3 year guarantee.
Edit:
They have the pockets you are looking for, plus belt loops and are lined so can be worn without trousers underneath. Oh and a nice deep card pocket in the back.

Before you blah, blah at the sight of someone saying GG, I've been buying them for about 8 years and their longevity actually means they are value for money.

However, (shoots own foot) I baulked at the price a couple of months back and bought Sunderland. Well impressed.

Another alternative is to go to somewhere like Blacks, the outdoor equipment people, and see what they charge for gore-tex. It is cheaper but is usually heavier because of the pastime they are used in.

Sunderland, didn't even think of those.
If GG really are the dogs and bang for the buck it's where I'll go, just looking at alternatives at the minute, are they just as good?

I have the Galvin Green paclite in the jacket and the GG performance gore in the trousers. Both fantastic and kept me nice and dry at wet old Heworth yesterday.
I went for the paclite as wanted something light to swing in and I was looking for the paclite trousers, however got a great deal on the trousers so went for them.
Got the trousers from Dave Fletcher at Brancepath, a top bloke.
Just make sure you follow washing instructions carefully, no fabric softener and after washing & rinse cycle put them through another rinse cycle only. Then tumble dry low and iron to reactivate the waterproofing. Bit of a chore, but worth it. You only get what you pay for.

Berghaus stuff is good for the money, I'm a Greenkeeper by trade and mine have done over 2yrs work through all the abuse that winter can throw at you and they're still going strong, can't comment on the golfability of em though as I'm not stoopid enough to play when it's persisting down. ;)

Galvin all the way Sir! My ass is never wet, bought my first pair 8 years ago, great job, was lucky enough to get a new pair last year with gm, old ones still good to go also! Worth every penny

Ive stopped buying moderate priced clothes for golf. If you want to play in all weathers you need the best gear to stay warm or dry. Galvin green all the way. They do the job, look good and lifetime waterproof guarantee, job done.

Paclite good for Summer and for winter if you are going to wear golf trousers underneath. 2 layer GTX heavier great for winter over a pair of shorts or long johns or similar

Can't beat Gore Tex IMO and both adidas and GG will serve you well. Friend has Nike Hyperadapt Storm and rates them as good as GoreTex

I have the Berghaus Paclite Goretex stuff for golf. I am silly enough to go out when it's persisting down.
