Frilford Heath Winter Deal

It's just whether or not you can play enough golf to get value

This is what stops me joining. Subs are £2160, and I only have time to play once per week. If I thought I could play twice a week instead of once I'd be a member, nearly £45/round is just too much though.

Roll on retirement, only 20 years to wait ... :D

Played this last week on Thursday with three others

Started off with the Red course which was in cracking nick - as good as any course for this time of the year - the red course is always a challenge but the 8th is one of the toughest par fours I have played 485 into wind was a brute. 18 very good holes - shame a few of the par threes were a bit shorter than normal.

After a very good lunch we asked the Pro which course to play next and he said the green maybe short but will surprise you so went for the green

What a cracking 6000 yard course - certainly a course you need to plot your way around with challenging greens - then towards the end some long par fours came into play and overall it's a very good course

It was such a great deal that I have booked to go back twice before the end of March

£50 for as much golf including bacon butty and a good lunch is superb value

Highly recommend it

A guy at our club was raving about the green course just a couple of weeks ago, really want to go and try this while the winter deal is on. They're also doing an offer this month for £80 for a 2-ball, wanted to take the father-in-law round but I can't easily take any more days off this month.

If anyone wants to make up a 4-ball in March though would definitely be up for it? When are you going back Phil? (and have you got spaces? ;))

Would have no probs going again as both the dates I'm playing in March are with two full fourballs. At £50 each it's a bargain

Frilford rotate their courses each day so one is two-ball only. They've also got maintenance going on, according to their calendar, which will close one course at a time on some days. So, to play the Red and Green courses on a Monday or a Friday in March (and avoiding Easter weekend) you've actually only got one date which is March 7th. Seems like a starting point? Sunset not till 6pm so loads of time to play 36 holes. If not the 7th then would probably need to be Red and Blue, although of course that isn't the end of the world.

Enter the men's open in June - £55 and it's on red and green. + practice round week before

Also they are doing £40 golf all day (without food) for rest of Feb.

that open in June is good value, shame I have got to halve my handicap by June to enter

Since you're both at Woburn on the 29th, what about making it a three ball at Frilford on the 30th? Only minor "problem" is the Green course is 2ball only that day!

Who knows, maybe some others coming a long distance to play at Woburn might decide to stay over and join us.
Possibly should start another thread if this is a go-er!

It's a good thought as so many will be relatively close anyway but I'm not sure my knees would be up for 36 holes two days running!

Hope you get off lightly! I don't quite see why the first one would stop you playing 36 holes though?

I did try and get the first date past her but was told in in a variety of different words that I would lose my nads if I went and played mate.😂
