hi all,i'm in the process of reducing my monthly outgoings and have just got rid of sky tv and got a package with virgin, this doesn't have any sky sports channels, any on here got any tips as to how i can catch a few live golf tournaments on my pc i looked at a few yesterday but all seemed to have a monthly subscription and were based in america!.

Find a good friend with the sky sports package and hopefully doesn't use sky go too much.
Ask them if you can use thier details. If they don't know what sky go is then you are onto a winner. Just ask them if you can set it up for them.
Use thier sky go!

Works very well for me. I use it on my xbox with my brothers details. He uses sky go on other devices so only one I can use is the xbox. It's a big win for me. I get it through my TV and have access to sports, films on demand and also a few other live channels. All for minimal financial outlay. £40 xbox live which I'd be paying anyway and the bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin he requested as payment. The rest of my TV is via Freesat HD which will now start saving me money in November after the inital outlay for the freesat box.

Bad news Bob, moves underway to prevent what you are doing....

Having watched golf on Sky recently I would make the following comments:-
1) The amount of golf is minimal.
2) The amount of advertising is excessive.
So, for me, Sky is a no no.

Sky can only show whatever coverage the ET or USPGA broadcast or allow to be broadcast.
And without that advertising you loathe so much Sky would not show as much golf as they do. So basically you are saying they should cut own on the advertising to lure you in but would then probably be one of the first to complain if the amount of events covered dropped as a result... "Sky don't show enough events so, for me, they are a no no..."
Some people are never happy.

Maybe if they didn't shell out obscene amounts of billions at the "best" league in the world....

What's that got to do with their golf coverage? Each sport is supported by it's own revenue stream. This is why less popular sports have less airtime and more obscure show times, Sky can't draw the revenues to support the production and broadcast.
