foursomes

I enjoy it but it's easily the most frustrating type of format.

Played a match with my regular PP last year, I absolutely ripped a drive down 18 where we were A/S, the others were way out of the hole, he then proceeded to blade his wedge through the back and OOB

I'm surprised at the amount of people that prefer not to have the heat of being responsible for all of your score.

Golf for me is a treat, like going out for a meal.

I'll eat the soup dear and you have the bread roll. Then I'll eat the beef and yorkshire and you can have the potato and veg. To finish I fancy some custard, you can have dry apple pie.

I'd rather eat the whole thing when I don't get to go out very often.

Perhaps it is a case of traditionalists and modernists having different views.

If so then, no doubt, foursomes will disappear completely from Club calendars. I just happen to think that would be a great shame.

Point is that in 4somes you are not playing for yourself - you have an added responsibility - to your partner. And it is that that I find so rewarding - because it is so demanding. There is a great buzz and feeling of togetherness from hitting a good approach and your partner holing the putt. You have to work out as a pairing the shots to play - to play to each others strengths and avoid their weaknesses - and as we all know our strengths and weaknesses can change from day to day - and indeed during a round and so your strategy has to change to accommodate how you and your PP are playing. Great format.

makes a pleasant change from the norm ,as does greensome and texas scramble ,
the last one i played in i put my partner two feet from the pin on the last hole so i didnt bother taking my clubs up to the green ,and yep he missed and i had to walk three hundred yards on a round trip to fetch my putter .
we did win though ,but only by a shot.

For the Midlands County Seniors league matches we now play 9 holes of Foursomes in the morning before BB in the afternoon, on Monday we won 3&2 being 2 under at the time , love it :)

Purest test of matchplay golf in my view.

I love it.

Yep, agree. You just can't switch off when it's not your turn. It's a team game, and tactical as well. Knowing your partners game is just as important as your own. I've played in 6 club knockout foursome finals over the years won 2 on the bounce at one club, 3 on the bounce at another and won my 6th title last year at my new club and still in this years knockout. I'm hoping I can make it the 3peat of successfully defending the foursomes titles. So needless to say I like foursome golf..

Never played it, play quite a bit of team comps but it's usually betterball or progressive/regressive alliance (with the odd scramble)

Doubt I'd go out of my way to play the format and easily my least favourite part of the RC
