Like it - although me & my partner are both high hc so tend not to do well in comps.

One year we were hc 21 and 24 & got drawn against a pair who were 2 & 3. They had to give us 20 shots - and still thrashed us. The demon team at our place are a pair who play off 1 & 23. Unless the high hc dumps the ball in deep cabbage, the low hc still lands the ball exactly where needed. (His hc is only as high as 1 because he doesn't practice that much nor take the game too seriously. If he tried, he could be goooood)

For me it depends on the frequency of the golf you play,

For example, young family/busy social life/self employed then a great percentage of these golfers only get out once a week. When they have to endure a six day wait for fours hours of fun the generally don't want it to be for half a round of golf. Secondly are they a full member or a green fee golfer?.... As a golfer that used to pay and play so to speak the group I was with didn't want to pay a full green fee for half a round of golf.

Not flip the coin, your a member who pays nowt for your green fee, you play twice sometimes three times a week in the summer and most of your golf is played in medal/stableford format with the odd knock being matchplay, the season can get tedious and a bit samey and this is where formats like greensomes/foursomes/Texas become fun.

Personally I enjoy the above three formats but only generally play the. During the winter at our club when qualifiers have stopped. It speeds up play, puts a different dynamic on the game, and encourages a bit of team bonding....... Bring it on!

Agree with this from the amateur point of view, not sure if the same applies to pro golf though and while one foursomes session in the RC would be fine, two is overkill
