This subject has been poured over in the original thread and the general feeling is that regions put there own teams together and then arrange friendly matches with other regions.

Venues to try and be a half way house to make traveling fair for everybody.

Generally it looks like the North West,South East and Scotland already pretty much have teams in place.

Can any other regions get a team together for this years season?

Harry.

TBH I think the SE team cover quite a large area already, and are quite well represented. It would be nice to see a Central Southern team as there's a few of us on here now. There's you, Midnight, CanfordHacker, myself, and a couple more that don't spring to mind instantly.

Mind you, after only scoring a 20 today, I don't think I'll be chosen for any team. :D

We should probably give the SE team a game. There was talk of a game in Basingstoke area for the home county crowd and us.

As we get BBC South Today News here in Aylesbury that puts me in the Central Southern bracket.

Hapless, I would be honoured to be part of your team!!

Hi RND

I am up for the South West team if I can get time off for work.
Twiregolf, AliB,Denboy,Teeshot are from south west maybe they may want to join in. I am sure there is a guy from St Mellion but not sure of his username .
I am sure there must be more of us down this way.

To be fair BBC South covers everywhere from Weymouth to southern Essex! Even if it's not the official station for that area, it still covers it. So we could argue that those in Dorset are part of the SE crowd. It's just a damn long way to travel for a day from Dorset to East Sussex / Kent and back.

But if those that are southern based or want to be part of a southern get together to then take on other areas, I guess it looks as if i've been charged with trying to sort something out. And I'm probably the worst player!!

I guess the simplist way would be for you guys to pm me with all your details. Unless of course someone else would like to volunteer (seeing as I haven't really!!).

User name
Real name
Location
Club
Handicap
Telephone number (if that's okay)
e-mail (ditto)
How much you're prepared to pay for a round of golf
How far you're prepared to travel for a round of golf
Preferred playing days
Preferred type of course to play considering ability etc.

I'm not weeding a team out from this info, but trying to include as many as that what to get involved as possible.

As I've already mentioned, I'd 'drop' me if numbers were limited and reliable 'scorers' were required!!

Thanks to everyone that's replied. But I think I should clarify that I am not volunteering to be the national organiser. Just for the Central Southern region. Which in broad terms would cover, Dorset, Hants, west West Sussex, and probably south Wiltshire, west Surrey and maybe Berks at a push. Though it's really down to you for the travelling etc.

I was thinking that not only would it be nice to hold region against region comps, but maybe we (as in the Central Southern region could hold our own bi-monthly comp, with each of us taking it in turns to host the event. Or is this just a little too much? I won't be offended, but I'd rather folks were honest.

Following on from thoughts of others, and the apparent already set-up SE bridgade. I kind of got volunteered to collate forum members for CSE (Central Southern England, it's too long to keep typing!!).

It's not for me to 'set' geographic regions, as it's not always the distance that's the problem, but how long it actually takes to get there.

What I would suggest is that forum members 'arrange' themselves into regions, ideally with a single contact forum member, and then take it from there. I guess we're generally looking at one day events, due to other commitments.

As an idea, would Andy (SS2) be willing to provide a central storage point for individuals scores and game results. That way we should be able to 'weed' out any banditos!! I really don't know how that would work though.

I think we need to agree on regions and get some lines drawn in the turf.

Maybe as follows with Southampton as the central point.

CSE- from Weymouth Across to just this side of Portsmouth and north maybe as far as Newbury.

Now Weymouth at 2.5 hours might be a bit far west and Newbury a bit far north at 1.5 not sure, what do you guys think?

Yep i'd be up for it, as long as the course is within and hour and a half drive.
