Should there not be a separate forum category for forum meets? A posting will suddenly appear which goes back several months which might have attracted current interest. Old Farts v Young Whippersnappers is a case in point - newer members might have been interested if they knew about it.

Not a bad point. Kind of what the arrange a game section is for, but perhaps moving threads to a new forum would be ideal when they become "official" forum meets...Might get messy though and where do you draw the line between casual round and forum meet?

easy, have sub forums, maybe an idea for when the new forum format is unleashed :)

at the moment the forums are a bit too generalised hence lots of repeated questions and requests.

Can people not just learn to search or go back a couple of pages, todays society just wants to be spoon.

No as then we wouldn't have 3 threads on waterproofs and 3 threads on which ball a week.

As a fairly new member I wouldn't know what to search for. I would never, for example, have thought of searching for Old Farts even though I fit into that category.

It goes back to January inside three pages, how much more do you need? all current meets are on the first page. To keep thins listed concisely, there should really only ever be three threads on a meet, the first for gaining interest, the actual thread for putting your name down and info for the day and thirdly, the aftermath with photos.

That's ok when you've only got four going
;)

Rob - perhaps you as "king organiser" should have your own section!!!!

we did try to run a sticky calendar but for whatever reason it was under used and, in my case anyway, no longer accessible.

also, some of these meets (and I think Old Farts was one) have to be sorted a long way in advance, particularly when it's an over-nighter.

ps seems like I can access it again

You can always put your name down on the reserve list.
There's a long way to go between now and the end of April and despite people having paid a deposit, there is still a chance they may bomb out.
A couple did with this years meet at Woodhall but because there was a reserve list, replacements could be found.

;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

The blackmoor meet being a good example IIRC there were eight separate threads going.

Fun, wasn't it?
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Only because it grew into 3 seperate meets, Blackmoor,Bearwood and Camberley.
The chaps who organised the 3 day golfing fest did a great job and so what if it took up a bit of room on the forum.
It's not rationed.
I for one am happy with the present set up :D

Thinking out loud, we could sticky the main events non-banterous arrangement details to keep things helpful and tidy (small events wouldnt qualify otherwise it would be pointless). It would then get unstickied the day after the event.

Whatcha think?

I was thinking the same thing. "big meets" (i.e. Woodhall, Blackmoor, Sunningdale etc, that require alot of pre planning, arrangement and details) to be stickied until the event date has passed.

Other small "anyone fancy a knock round the midlands somewhere this weekend" type meets stay as they are.
