Forum meet for beginners,any intrest?

Why don't you organise one mate ,put it in the arrange a game section pick the date and venue and i'm sure the guys will turn up, if you see how bad i play you'll feel like Tiger Woods.

I'd make every effort to come along, and I'm rubbish!!!

Not able to join a club till april(finances),at the moment i am playing Lethamhill muni and Deaconsbank in glasgow.Hope to join either Campsie or Bearsden in april.Sometimes travel to fife to play,but not too often.Spend a fair bit of time practicing at world of golf in Clydebank and Brucefields in Stirling.

I have to say I think you're doing yourself a disfavour. These events, either organised by GM or by the guys on here are NOT taken as serious competitions. I think anyone coming along with the ultra competitive mindset would soon be spoken to. It is all about meeting like minded golfers who share the passion for the game and having a laugh. OK we all like to play well but someone always has to come last and it never matters who. If you do have a good day there are some decent prizes normally on offer but it is really about the company, the course and the fun.

Get out there and get involved. There are usually a lot of Scottish mini meets going on and I'm sure you'll be made to feel very welcome. You'll learn a lot from watching some of these guys too

I went along to the Royal Ascot meet last year and as a 26 handicapper (Now 22) I wasnt put off at all

The banter was great, playing with a group of like minded idiots who all played some good stuff/ some bad stuff, but it didnt matter, we all had a great time

I was lucky enough to win nearest the pin

Its all about taking part, I had some great tips from HTL/Just One about Bunker play

One good way to learn and improve in any sport is to watch, Play with and talk to better players. (So why was I talking to Smiffy)???

So for me, I wouldnt be interested in a meet specifically for higher handicaps

I'd be interested. I hear what everyone else is saying but I think they've got the wrong end of the stick. Are you suggesting a meet for say cat 3&4 golfers as a prelude to playing with the 'better' players. A break the ice opportunity for dome of the newer players? If so I'd be interested.

Nothing against playing with good players, I find it really useful, but the thought of being drawn in a fourball with say Justone, Robobum and JammyDodger would scare the shite out of me!

what course du play at deke- i`m sure there`s some of the scottish lads in ur area u`ll join up and get a 4 sorted - if not ur welcome to come up here and join up with `steve 1969` and me - iv`e invited a couple of the other lads , so we`ll get something sorted if u can`t get a game closer to home ..none of us are 300 plus guy`s ,like some on here- well `steve1969` he`ll get close to that once the new `beast` arrives

Deke, I play regulary with a guy at my club who is 15 shots better than me, he bullied me into a forum meet last year at Beau Dessert, it was brilliant, the foreball i played in had me on 28 and a lad from GM on around 6ish. I may have finished last in my group but not overall. Despite my high handicap I was made to feel as welcome as every other player.
