I asked this question a few days back on Twitter and the folk on here who follow me gave me some cracking info.

I've decided to open the question up to the general forum.

Have you played the course?

What were your impressions?

Any stand-out holes?

Anything to be wary of on the course (Tricky holes)?

Any tips?

All greatly appreciated

Have you played the course? - Yes

What were your impressions? - back 9 is better than the front 9. more picturesque

Any stand-out holes? - 8th par 3 over water, 10th par 4 over a ha-ha wall, 17th par 5 with water in front of green

Anything to be wary of on the course (Tricky holes)? - 4th, harder than it looks, don't cut the corner too much, 2nd, you can cut off more corner than you may think, and it doesn't need much more than a long iron off the tee.

Any tips? don't try to cut off too much of the corner of the 4th. You need to get up to the hole on the greens as they often have large slopes which aren't obvious from the fairway. Greens are normally slower than they look, and take the slope less than you would think.
Enjoy it, it's a good course to get the driver out and have a crack, and most par 5's are reachable in two.

How that helps a little.

Played there. My tip is not to three putt the long 15th and lose a big comp on countback. The back nine is defintely more picturesque than the front. We played it off the whites and so I had a game plan not to attack any par 4 over 400 yards and I had shots on them all and decided I wasn't long enough or good enough to hit the greens. Laid up to 85-100 and trusted my wedges. Managed to play those in one over handicap and still feel this was a better return than I would have had. I enjoyed the off course set up too and had good food, good company and a good time

Have played it and its a very Nice course ,

You wont need driver off the second , if you can draw the ball it will suit you perfectly , if not stay right , easy second ..

Stay well left up the 9th (i hope its the 9th ha)

All the par 3's are good holes

Spend a bit of time on the practice putting greens the day we played (oct )the greens were fast but the putting greens were exactly the same ..

You will enjoy it , its a nice course , when are you playing it ?

Playing Friday this week Bill on my birthday as part of a corporate golf day as a guest along with my dad (... He invited me as was asked to bring a 'friend'.)

Looking forward to it now.

That bad eh?

Or are you refering to me getting my ball back out of the many ponds

When I played it wouldn't have been open if it weren't a resort course. Some of the fairways were so wet you had to go a long way to take relief from casual water. Very muddy in places, and the greens were so bad I didn't bother putting after 9 holes.

Shame, as I thought the layout was really nice.

In that case, I hope the current dry weather holds until I've played

Presumably, the Arden Course.

Pleasant enough, but nothing extraordinary.

Memorable last hole though.

Don't leave valuables lying around in changing rooms - even when just having a quick shower!

Very good advice this

I've played it twice enjoyed the place bar is expensive

Smashing back 9 a pleasure to play. 18th is very good!! As said bar prices are silly just like at most resort style facilities. I played there after a good few downpours a few years ago and did not see any draining problems but others on here have told me it is bad so I must have been lucky.

played it twice and enjoyed it immensely. Birdied the 18th 1st time (fluke). I found the course quite open and the bunkers excellent. The greens were quite tricky as subtle borrows etc and fairly quick. Overall a decent course & facilities all round
