"For please, now driving"

It's actually four please, he's getting in his round.

Can't say it's intrinsically sillier than a lot of other introductions, though it's not particularly pleasing to my ears.

Ivor was a proper gentleman, cool calm and gave you the info you needed to know in a no drama manner,

A voice of authority that commanded respect,

The guy at the masters is a rank amateur by comparison
What’s the difference between what Ivor used to say, and the chap at Augusta?

“Fore please” I am a presuming this is to get everyone’s attention.
“Now driving” They are about to hit a drive.
“Players name” Announces who’s hitting.

It sounds a bit strange, and is probably how they did it back in the day, but we should be used to it by now.

This would certainly qualify as a "random irritation", certainly not an issue with the majority. Much simpler than announcing everyone's records.
And Ivor was the best!
