Food prices at your club???

Growing up in the midlands and living in the northwest as a young adult, I wasn't aware of ham, egg and chips as a dish. I don't know if it had just evaded me or if it's a southern thing.
After I moved down south I saw it on a cafe menu and ordered it, assuming it would be hot, thickly carved slices of freshly cooked leg of ham or maybe a gammon steak. Since discovering it's generally a couple of pieces of the thin, reconstituted rubbish you get in a plastic container in the supermarket I've never bothered again.
I think it's £7 at our place.

Must admit, here in Yorkshire it would be gammon egg and chips, with peas or beans as well.

Ham, egg & chips is £6.30, bacon sarnie is £3.15, tuna mayo sarnie is £3.50. I don't think we do burgers as standard, at least can't see them on the bar menu. We get 10% off those prices when using our members card too.

@Smiffy I know your price for ham. egg & chips is a lot more, but if it's the same every time as that we had for lunch at the meet, it's a bloody big portion of proper hand cut ham, two eggs and a heap of chips. Not saying it's worth £14, but can see why it would be a tad more expensive.

Not a clubhouse, but a burger in the Brasserie/ leisure club bar is £15.50, fish and chips £14.50 (less 20% members discount). £4.40 for a pint of tennants (with discount)

We've had no food-caterers for several weeks. I've got quite used to taking me own snap in a tupperware.
We are interviewing next week, apparently. Kitchen has been re-wired and done-up.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the habit of ordering a large lunchtime nosebag and pot of tea at East Midland prices! :D:D:D

Amazin how much people try and charge for a bacon roll. We have a specialist Pork butchers in town that also stocks rolls from a local bakery. I can get a dozen slices of thick cut smoked bacon and half a dozen quality rolls for under a fiver there and that is retail prices. Surely it would no tbe beyond the wit of man to buy those ingredients, put them together and sell me one roll full decent bacon for £3-£4 but that seems impossible. No, I do not want it in artisan focacia or sour dough made from and ancient yeast culture, no, I do not need at salad on the side that I ignore anyway, no I do not want your expensive hand produced sauces and you to charge me a tenner for it, I want good bacon, in a nice roll and a bottle of HP, it is not difficult.

Sorry, rant over, very pasionate about bacon rolls:D:D:D:D

Easily done if making it for yourself. But factor in the cost of paying someone to make it, the equipment required, making a profit and so on. All whilst complying with food safety regulations. Then it becomes a bit more of a challenge.

My local course does Ham, Egg and Chips for £11 and a bacon and cheese burger for £12.50
It's not terrible for Surrey.

Not really if you can selll at a reasonable volume. In any event, if they cannot get associated costs and profit into a 2-300% markup based on £0.85 for the raw ingredients then the club needs to take a serious look at it's practices.

So am I.
I cannot stand the usual bacon roll served up at most clubs.

One slice of lukewarm, undercooked bacon, served up in a bone dry burger bap. When the hell did a burger bap become a bread roll?? I cannot stand burger baps. Burger baps are as far removed from bread rolls as you can get...
?????

Ham doesn't seem to be on the menu but Sausage, fried egg, chips and beans cost me £4.70 today...
Mini breakfast - 2 bacon, 1 Sausage, 1 fried egg, 1 slice toast or fried bread, beans is £5.70
I think the full English is about £7.50.

Sandwich = £2.75
Small Chip = £1.80
Normal Chip = £2.40
Sausage Bap = £2.65
Sausage and Egg Bap = £2.95
Chicken and Cheese Panini = £3.50
Clubhouse Burger with Chips = £8.50

Basically, after a round of golf, I usually get my lunch and a drink, and my bill will often be around the £5 mark. If I'm getting a round in, might push it up towards £10 or even £15 if someone if ordering an expensive beer. I pint of beer is about £4, a pint of Pepsi £2.50. I usually go for a Mocha for £1.80

O yeah, we get an 8% discount on food as a member, so those prices are actually a bit lower.

Hear,hear.
To those of us who know. A real bacon roll is a thing of beauty. It would probably be my last supper.
I've had them with half a pig inside and others when I've had to send a search party out for the bacon. So caterers throughout the land hear our cry "make em proper or not at all"
