Follow Through

...oh and not duffing my playing partners pro v into a pond! ;)
Sounds like a great bar time anecdote! :D

Well that is more an occurence I'd like to avoid in the foursomes this weekend.

Although once I must admit to finding my ball in a tad worse condition than I was expecting. Thought it hadn't rolled as far into the rough but hey go rub of the green and all that. Sized it up and hit a peachy 6 iron onto the green about 8 foot from the hole. As I stood holding my pose enjoying the moment my partner called out to say he'd found my ball. I'd hit someones lost ball from earlier on. Hit my own ball from a better lie out of bounds

Homer is that you? And this is why you will never become a single digit man, as long as you keep worrying about shizzle like this!
Learn to hit a ball 75-90%, chip and putt. The rest will sort itself out. ;)

WTF I haven't even posted on here and you're giving me s**t

Personally I don't give a monkeys about whether the club does 3 1/2 somersaults with pike as long as the ball is going towards the green and not into trouble

Preemptive strike :D Settle petal, we all get a bit of banter aimed at us. Imagine, it could be worse, you could be Jon or Smiffy!:D

ROTFLMAO!!!! :D :D :D Too funny! :D

Basically it's what Tiger said in the first place before he put his physics hat on. The club should still be accelerating as it passes the ball... the faster it's accelerating the longer it'll take to stop, however you can apply more force to stop it quicker if you want by introducing bigger muscles after the ball has been well and truly struck.

I thought that your follow through would be about maintaining your balance throughout the swing, helping to create a good tempo, and smoother swing.
Like when hitting pitches using a 3/4 swing, you want a 3/4 follow through, on a full swing you want a full follow through, by following through do you not encourage your self to get you hands a body through correctly helping to square the face at impact, and then release the club head?

This is going to sound dodgy, but surely it's all about what people "expect" to see from another person utilising a technique. I can't really answer for golf, but I suspect one expects to see a reaction from an action. If nearly everyone exhibits the same reaction, then for someone not to do it, then either it might be presumed their technique could be wrong, or they've achieved something in an unusual manner. Certainly in sports terms, I think knowing where you are going to finish a move/technique/swing, is probably a helpful way in improving the overall effect. Knowing where the tip of a snooker cue might finish after screw or stun or run-through could help learn it quicker.
