Focusing for a tough match during trying times.

Don't sweat it. Once you go three down after four, you'll not be bothered will relax and play well until you sense victory and panic. That or the wind will make it an interesting experience and it may negate his "dubious" handicap. I wouldn't be worrying or thinking too much. Trust your swing and play the game as it comes

Ok glass half full, on reflection this could be a good thing!

Having a certain amount of respect for the player should keep me focused instead of my getting lax and assuming a win.

It's gonna be fun!

Good luck in your match, but the thing I find a bit confusing is you say your opponent plays in nearly all comps. So surely his h/c of 16 should be correct ,where does the 12h/c come into it?

Should he be putting more supplementrys in I wonder?

I think it's simply a case that he has improved loads but he's handicap hasn't dropped to where it needs to be yet

Well a great match was had with a 3 n 2 score to him, hands shaken on 16.

A super close match with monster putts and two chip ins for par from both people" the match decided by a poor lag put by myself on 13 and 16' which was a shame as I won 17 and 18 meaning we would have played extra hales had I not 3 putted 16 for the half.

Got to say even though I lost I played some of my best golf in challenging windy conditions shooting a +9 gross, 3 under my hc, my playing partner shooting 4 under he's, some really tidy golf
