I am thinking of treating myself to a new set of irons in the not too distant future but this time I am not going to give the old 'fitting program' a chance to see if it really does make a difference.
I play with Taylor Made irons at the moment but really fancy some Mizuno MX200's.
The only problem is their National fitting centre is miles away. They do have a regional fitting centre but this is just my local American Golf and no disrespect meant to AG but I am concerned this fitting service may not be any better than these online fitting programs.
My question is, Has anyone ever been fitted by AG and do they do a thorough job ?

Whichever AG you go to, ask if they have a PGA Pro there to help with the fitting service.
If I could make another suggestion....
Because these clubs are forged, they can be easily adjusted for loft and lie.
If you have a pro you know, you could buy them off the shelf and have them retro fitted by him.
Can I ask you Barney, are you extra tall, short, small hands, big hands, long arms, etc etc ?

No I am a pretty average type of guy, 6ft, medium build, medium hands, HUGE FEET !! ;)

Why you ask, Do you not think fitting will make much difference ?

If you are Mr average, it may not make a difference, but for peace of mind I would always advise to get the loft and lies checked.
Its not only peace of mind, it's also good for your confidence to know the clubs you have are suited to your swing.
HTH
Btw, Stewart Cink is 6'5 and he uses standard length shafts

I wouldn't go to AG for any sort of C/F irrespective of whether a PGA pro was attached or not. They are here to sell four main brands (Yonex. Hogan Wilson and Nicklaus) and will do anything to push these. I'm not sure they would carry enoug shaft specifications and different heads either.

Where are you based?

Im in Hull.

For what its worth I did actually pop into the Hull branch of AG and the lad there was extremely polite and did not try to sway me towards any particular brand.
I didnt do any testing but he said the same about getting the lie/loft tested at the very least.

I darent go to one of these places who monitor your swing and then tell you which make/model of iron suits me as the good looks of a club im afraid wrongly matters a lot to me but also probably means I am using the totally wrong irons !
