Having won our 3 club comp. yesterday with a gross 96 net 75 this being just 4 shots more than my average so far this season is it worth a player of my h/c taking a full set of clubs out?

Might try taking 5 clubs out next time :D

well done mate, should maybe leave the clubs you duff in the car boot and only use the good ones, if we dont have them in the bag we're not tempted :D

Well done Bruv, I take it you had 3 clubs and a putter?
I think having fewer clubs makes us play more conservatively, not going for risky shots, ie. going for the green in 2 on that long par4 with the 3 wood. Resulting in lost balls and penalty shots. Knowing that driver and 2 decent 7 irons, with one or two putts will get us there. :D

It's called machoism  :D :D

I've been seriously thinking about getting a small bag and using a half set in the evenings. I started with a 1/2 set as a kid and seemed to do alright. I was thinking 3 wood, 3hybrid 5 7 9 irons 52 wedge and putter

I think that would cover most basis especially off the yellows.

That makes a lot of sense Homer, and could be the part of the solution to your recent problems. I'd give it a go.
Having said that, perhaps many of us could try the same! :)

Thanks bruv

No it was just 3 clubs 3 wood 8 iron and putter.

Didnt pan out as you suggest, found that i played poorly where i normally do ie around the greens and putting i normally use a 8 iron from around the greens anyway.

Having been advised in the past to use a 3 wood of the tee and not driver when its windy (and boy was it windy) this probebly helped, cant honestly say there was a vast differance in lengh using the 3 wood rather than driver.
