haven't entered club singles comp previously and had first round match today against opponent giving me two shots.

won the first with a par and then halved the next seven before losing the ninth to turn all square. won the twelth where i got one of my shots and missed makeable puts at 13 and 14 before losing 15th to again be all square. won the 16th lost the 17th and left a par putt on the lip for the win on the last.

pulled drive down the first into an unpleasant lie but when opponent hit the green felt i had to take on the water and didn't make it. in strokeplay definately would have laid up but it was that kind of decision making depending on the situation that i really enjoyed. every hole was decided on the green, no blowouts by either of us. read scorecard afterwards and played bang on my handicap.

dissapointed to lose but really enjoyed the format, shame it's another year to the next one.

Sometimes you are forced to take shots on in matchplay. Its part of the nature of the beast. I got duffed up 2&1 in my club summer singles in one of those games that could have gone either way. Played steady but my opponent just more consistent thorugh 10-14
