I'd almost forgotten that I'd put my name down for an Inter-Club match and I've been "selected". Rather looking forward to it, as I haven't played any real matchplay in ages.

I'm assuming it's pairs better ball matchplay but I'm not sure about handicaps/allowances etc. Can anyone shed any light?

If it's 4BBB which is likely then you get 3/4 the difference between your handicap and the "low man" (rounding up .5's). If you are the low man you get 'nowt :D

These tend to be very competitive and can be very pressurised especially if you get a few spectating and your match goes down the last.

It can vary, it depends on the competition. I played my first one just a few weeks ago and it was singles matchplay off scratch. Was brilliant, loved it and can't wait to play again. It nothing like a medal or any other type of competition i have played.

Hope you enjoy it and lets us know how you get on.

Ours is exactly like this, I was the low man but the high handicap was only 2 higher so not too bad

Well, we got soaking wet but it was worth it for the win. My partner and I played out of our socks (off 14 & 18) and we were level par gross when we shook hands on the 13th green.

Great fun and I've put my name down for the next one!

I have a good way of relieving the pressure in these situations on the last...

...make sure you've won before you get there :D
