Not sure how it will go, I'm with my winter league partner and were both high handicappers.
Think there is a bit more pressure when your playing the same ball though, but it is what it is I suppose and just need to concentrate on each shot.
We also get plenty of shots which is a bonus!

Looking forward to it and hopefully get a win as we're against 2 of our mates, so there will be some banter :D

Foresomes is a high pressure game but most important rule the pair of you can agree to is Never let sorry come into your game.
Play your shot and take what comes. Also have a chat before hand and see if there are any holes you don't like tee off on and adjust your order to suit.
Most of enjoy!

it's a horrendously tough format but good nonetheless. I'd suggest you bash 50 balls each at the range beforehand to loosen off and hit em hard so you are warmed up proper as alternate shots is tricky. Wise call to choose odd or even holes to drive so whoever drives the best can choose the most appropriate holes. Play conservatively and sensible with all those shots in hand as your oponents will already be under pressure so if you keep it on the fairway you're laughing.
Loads of putting practise and good luck but make sure you let bad shots go and don't get hung up about them.

Playing my first foursomes on Thursday, already thinking about which holes I would prefer to hit the tee shots on, although my partner is a lower handicap than me, so I will have to defer to her. Playing the easier format of Greensomes tomorrow too.

I would advise that the lower handicap take respondsibility for the holes you don't fancy rather than you defer to her, she should defer to you.

Well it didn't go to plan, we lost 4&2 but there was some excellent golf by both sides.
Enjoyed it, could do with having a lowish handicapper as partner next time though.

thats a pity what did you make of the and did you follow any of the advice lol

The biggest problem with foursomes is that if you both play poorly and your oppoenents play OK, you can end up getting hammered - as me and my buddy found ouit yesterday. One playing poorly other OK you can just about hold it together - both poorly - you're done for. But that is foursomes. You can win some 6-5 you can lose some 6-5. MUCH worse IMO is losing a fourball match 6-5 - now that IS depressing.

I think at amateur level foursomes is only going to be much fun if restricted to the lower end of the handicap spectrum, at least to keep matches close and to avoid team mates wanting to kill each other.

I'd like to play it for the experience sometime but I find that greensomes is enough for me.

The advice was good, I went for odds as I have a longer drive and all par 3's are evens.
I played pretty well, just that my partner had a very bad round and kept putting me in the s##t, but to be fair our opponents had a great round and gelled well.

There used to be a national 4'somes competion called the famous grouse. This was a 4'somes medal format. Can be a nightmare if both players are having a bad day in the office.
