I was never really into music as a kid but decided I ought to be so bought one of the Now albums as it had a variety of stuff on it. It wasn’t the first one but one of the first few. 1983.

...followed fairly soon after by

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound.

Early 80s. I was probably 11 or 12. I stole it from one of my sisters. She never even noticed. I think I wore that tape out and I can probably remember all the words without having heard it in 35 years.
I might have to download it right now.

I think that it was probably The Police, Regatta de Blanc.

Got them all inc picture discs and the first single they released with Henri Padovani in the band before they got rid of him.

First album I was given was an original 1975 pressing of Wish You Were Here when I was 10, my uncle was a super fan. I still have it today, and it never gets played. I actually bought a 180g repressing a few years back to protect it.

First CD album I bought was 1991's Essential Hardcore. A very bizarre album that had everything from 2unlimited to Joey Beltram to Simply Red (never understood that one).

But mainly I bought 12" EPs (some 3000+) with very few albums, I think the next album after that 1991 effort was in 1995 and it was Ruffneck Alliance - Fear of a Ruff Planet 2 x 12" - which, again I still have. A lovely double clear vinyl pressing.

I've never bought or downloaded any album or even any single/song.

Not sure if I should reply here or in the things that blow your mind thread. I really can't imagine a life without owning albums or CDs. And Mrs. BiM has just reminded me that this is not the first time I've heard of this.
