Films

Watched Love Actually at the weekend. Have managed to avoid it up till now.

Enjoyed it, but couldn't help thinking a few of the storylines were a bit inappropriate for a Xmas movie, particularly the one with Martin Freeman and Joanna Page. Was a bit uncomfortable watching some of their scenes with the daughter and her partner!
Used to be one of my favourite Crimbo films, now I find it just cringey. The Martin Freeman story and the bloke going to America just make me squirm! 😄

A Wonderful Life and Scrooge with Alistair Sim will be my must see films this year… plus Home Alone. 😁

It’s become a tradition in our house to watch Its a wonderful life, and Miracle on 34th street each Christmas. Not watched the Alistair Sims Scrooge for years.

I was just thinking of that video, saw it the other night. I actually hate that film, and hate that people seem to think of it as a Christmas movie as well. Not sure the spirit of Christmas is everyone bonking but there you go.
I mean, it absolutely is a Christmas movie as Christmas is central to many of the mini-plots. The ethics of the characters are something altogether separate. 😬

I am funny at times

I watched SOLO on DVD Sunday (charity shop bargain)

Kept thinking I've seen this before but only with some of the scenes, definitely did not remember Emilia Clarke being in it

Last night on Amazon I watched a sci fi film I knew straight away I had seen before - Occupation Rainful
Oh well I started so I will finish. It was enjoyable but am still left wondering where to find Chapter2

First visit to the actual cinema since lockdown
£30 for two oldies to see Napoleon 😮
Okish, filmed with a very dark filter which seemed to make it very gloomy.
Acting and musical score were poor.
On the plus side I stayed awake and managed to sit through 2.5 hours without needing a pee. (y)
If you have a Vue cinema local it’s a lot cheaper.

Wonka. A lovely family film, perfect for Christmas. A throwback to musical films from the past, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.

Just enough nods to the original to bring a little smile and a lump to the throat, but not enough to swallow the film.

Good cast, good characters and yes, Hugh Grant does steal every scene he is in 😄. Go see it 👍

Thanks for the review. Thought we might go on my birthday (29th) so now that's a done deal :)
