Filming at a driving range

I have 2 selfie sticks at the moment. One was purchased to read the gas metre.. its a proper camera one so its blooming long and not really useful as a selfie stick my mrs tells me.. so we bought a cheap £5 ebay job for the honeymoon for photos out there.. worked wonders

so that cheap one will become the reading gas selfie stick and the old one (which is longer than my driver in length when fully extended) will live in the bag and I can then attach my phone as required to film my swings. Quite looking forward to it.

my new pro wants me to be coach and pupil when he isnt about.. to study the flight of the ball and be like right why has that done that? how can I change to do what I want.. for example today I was hitting lovely baby draws and one faded.. so I paid closer attention to my set up.. changed it slightly and next shot was the best of the lot

How about trying , golf bag, ball retriever, phone, elastic band. That should easily manage Bobmac's suggestion of head height.

(Ok, ok, I know proper golfer don't have ball retrievers, so perhaps try a bamboo cane?)

i have something called a cam caddy. it fits onto a tour stick so you can dig it in the ground Face on or put the stick in a upturned range basket to film down the line

When I've tried videoing at the range all I get is a silhouette due to tha bay being darker than the outside. How do you all get around that problem?

What camera/phone are you using? Normally the software should have a setting called "backlighting" or something like that. Have you tried that?

I have an android phone and tablet (both samsung), does anyone know if I could display the camera view from the phone onto the tablet so that I could see in realtime what the various bits of my body are doing?

Would have the tab angled up from the deck just behind the ball. I think the instant feedback would be really useful, as trying to look in a mirror puts the head at an unrepresentative angle.

Could also use google voice or something to replay the swing without having to wander back to the phone etc etc

Skype (or whatever androids version of FaceTime is) from one to the other if your phone can be used as a wifi hotspot.

Have to watch out for feedback though - or turn the volume down.

Good idea. Would prefer Bluetooth, but beggars can't be choosers.

Have just discovered samsung sidesync which may be even better. Allows screen mirroring including all the controls working. Means that you don't have to touch the phone to stop/start recording etc, can all be done from the tablet. All on the house WiFi at present, so not tested in situ with phone based hotspot

I use the hudl app which is free. Great app.

Personally just wedge the iPhone with my towel on top of the golf bag.

People are saying the best position to be is head height, is this correct?

I use a mobile phone holder with a desk style clip.... it's like a big snake and great forbgetting the phone level. It was a 5'ee off eBay and clips to a bay devider or the top of my bag perfectly

Did my first video today.. only problem is the gap behind each bay isnt that big.. will be better down the far end of the range in the non auto bays where nobody goes and they have benches behind the bays as the gap is a lot bigger so could put further back

decent results though and good session
