fecking speed camera's :(

I dont know you and you dont know me but it will be 30 for a reason due to kids crossing at the lights etc. Not falling out or anything but you make it out to be the police who are the ones in the wrong. Take it and accept you were foolish.
;)

she always puts out :)

I totally agree, I know where the camera's are, trouble is they place them so strategically its very easy to have a lapse. I am more annoyed that after years of driving, never had an accident, parking ticket or any points I could be so absent minded.

lifes a bitch, theres always tomorrow and a round of golf on Sunday :)

I believe you were right on the button for being convicted. Its usually 10% plus 5MPH.

Its not the £60 which will hurt you, just wait till next years hike in insurance hits you when you declare the speeding conviction!

which lasts for 4 years - not 3, as they leave in your licence for the extra year, and you can be damned sure the insurance won't come down for 5.

(the bit that annoys me about mine is that they coded it as Motorway, so the insurance will think I'm doing 90, which I don't. it was one of those non-averaging, average speed cameras - no one working at all - how unusual! Still my fault)

The Association of Chief Police Officers guideline is 10% + 2mph.

Certainly down here they'll book you at 35 in a 30 zone and quite right too. You'd fail your Driving Test if you did that.
North Wales Police had a zero tolerance for ages - anything over and you were done!

Not always the case Crawford.
I had two SP30's on my licence when I was biking and they didn't affect my insurance at all.
You don't have to be a complete knob nowadys to pick up 3 points for speeding.
The cameras don't have any common sense
;)

all because I was on my way to the missus' on a promise, she rang me and I quickly flipped to loudspeaker then realised.

Sorry, but were you using a mobile that wasn't hands free ?

Anyway on a slightly different tac....

I grew up in an urban commuter village. One morning, two young lads who were running late decided to take a short cut across the main road to get to school rather than run along to the 'lollypop man'. Unfortunately, someone else was running late that morning, they had jumped into the car with the intention of catching up some lost time by a fast run into town.

I'll omit the gory detail and get to the bottom line. One young lad died at the scene before being taken to hospital. The other had horrific leg and pelvis injuries that took many months and many operations to recover from.

Speeding does kill... I knew both of these boys and because a driver was running slightly late, one of these boys never had the chance to grow up like the rest of us.

Instead of the self righteous indignation at getting a speeding ticket, think of the many people who get the fateful knock on the door from a family liasion officer because someone who was speeding has collided with their loved ones.

Just remember it's a speed limit, not a target.

Got a speeding fine through the post last year, took a minute to register, then I realised it wasn't me it was HID, ..did I enjoy that, of course I need to avoid any possibility of payback now so I drive very carefully now. :D

There wont be one person who drives on this forum who hasnt broken the speed limit on numerous occasions for whatever reason. Hypocritical to judge someone else for it , we all know the dangers and the severe consequences but we cant sit in our ivory towers and preach. There are a few emergency service workers on here who have to deal with the results of speeders/drunk drivers/mobile phone users etc and its not a pretty picture.

I just hope we've learnt our lessons before something tragic happens.
