It’s odd, but when I read posts like these. Hardly anyone mentions the fantastic scores and winners. Most of the favourite moments are about things that have gone off whilst on the meets. Team bonding, laughs the mental benefits of recharging one’s battery whilst playing golf etc etc. As I have said before. The golf is great but other positives of golf are just as important as the score. If anyone is bored with lots of time on their hands, it would be interesting to know how much the list above would cost in green fees today. I suspect it would be a scary figure, and significantly higher than the original costs. A shame.
I would class forum meets as social golf and in my head social golf is all about the craic. I guess some people take it seriously but I play my serious golf in competitions. One of the reasons that general play cards should not be submitted for every round as it's a different mindset. It’s odd, but when I read posts like these. I always enjoyed the Ascot meets Martin!SOme great courses played. Some top 100 and some simple home clubs but all were great fun and fond memories. Hopefully more memories to be made at H4H and other events to come
Would be happy to consider organising another. We are 3/4 of the way through a bunker renovation and the greens have improved massively as wellI always enjoyed the Ascot meets Martin!![]()
Yep that's him! That was months of fun.Mono?
I went on that too as it was offered to the mods at the time, flew up the day before and saw the last practice day,I’ve had a rethink.
2016 when the guys at GM ran a comp to offer magazine subscribers on the forum a freebie to the first days play of the Open at Troon.
What a day, saw some golf in the morning then got absolutely smashed in the VIP tent
I still have the Stella pint glass I managed to “procure”
Best memory of the day, getting back to the Wetherspoons in Irvine and seeing StuC almost face plant a curry as he was that drunk![]()
Was drink taken? If so I trust it was in large quantitiesI went on that too as it was offered to the mods at the time, flew up the day before and saw the last practice day,
Saw Monty tee the open off and then have to play backwards out of the bunker he landed in, there might have been some rude words uttered.
Spent a chunk of the day with Mike Harris going out to view a few holes, then back to the hospitality tent, which was fabulous.
A grand day out indeed![]()

Sure Ive missed some put, but what a line up! Great memories, and some right ne'er-do-wells tagging along.
Sometimes if the off field though.
Slasher being sick after trying to keep pace with northerners, "the wonder of stu" being interrupted by Aberdeen's finest, the whole Aberdovey day and night, fantastic H4H trips and fundraising, flatcapper meets, Glyn breaking down on the P&O ramp and many, many more. Sad that RickG isnt with us any more. Richart, and absolute gentleman.

I think that's the link Steve, I had forgotten about the video
Difficult to pick a favourite moment. I've enjoyed getting to know many of you through various meets, starting with an open at Ullesthorpe in 2015 which Crow invited us to, through to H4H at West Surrey. Hopefully many more to come.
One incident that I do remember and which has helped in future rounds is standing on the first tee at Forst Pines in a matchplay against SteveW86 with around 25 forumers watching whilst waiting for their turn. I pulled my drive badly into a tree and had around ten people help me find the ball in the rough. Second shot hit a tree ten yards ahead of me and looped back over my head. I ended up playing my fifth shot 30 yards in front of the tee. On the first tee now I don't get so nervous in the knowledge that it can't be as bad as that again!
