My wife is taking my son and 3 of his mates to "Go Ape" at Tilgate Park this weekend and she has had to fill in a detailed form in advance. In the children's section of said form, one of the questions actually asks, "do any of the children in your party weigh over 20 stone?"

She was absolutely amazed to read this and so was I. If a kid reaches 20 stone then the parents have something to answer for. Just not right.

We shook our heads and came out with the usual platitudes; what has the country come to? Not in my day etc etc.

Quite shocking to see that a form like this needs to ask such a question. Well, we were shocked anyway.

Presumably the risk is that the eponymous Ape will think the 20 stone kid is a mate, and that would be inappropriate with children around ...

Seriously though, that is mad.
My daughter cannot wait until she is 1m 40 (or whatever the height is) so that she can go to Go Ape in Bracknell. I am sure they keep puttingbthenlimit and age up every year. Yet 2 years ago in Slovenia she was able to do it there along with the adults with excellent levels of supervision and safety.

Just another sign of the times these days.
Peanut butter with sign "contains nuts"
Fizzy water/lemonade bottles "do not open with mechanical aids"
Just two examples plus the OP, the world is slowly but surely going crazy.

Are these worse than normal aids and full blown aids?

Fat kids are the future, without them, the world would be reproducing at a higher rate and we'd all starve to death. Thank god for fatties.

Except those foreign ones coming over here, taking our jobs and using our NHS...oh wait...no quantitative data to back that up, it's a gut feeling

Having seen the size of some kids waddling around the hospital I work in I can see their point although that weight is pretty excessive for anyone who'd actually want to partake of this activity.

20 stone!!!?? I weigh in at 17 stone 2 am 6'7" tall and am classed as overweight. This was earned through years of red meat and beer abuse. How on earth does a child get to 20 stone? They should prosecute the parents.

in the fat kids case, its probably glandular... yeh right!!

a friend of ours has a seriously overweight kid, makes me sick, she does naff all about it, lets her eat junk food, portions bigger than i would eat. FFS she has bigger tits age 10 than my wife! she should be EDUCATED. she wont listen to anyone though.. sad really that the kid will probably only live to early forties with all the extra stress on organs etc.

if my kids start looking a bit chubby, they get drilled army style and put on rations.

Be careful how you control childrens eating, I used to have all my food intake controlled for me and was very fit as a child, I used to train every day for the sport that I competed in. Once I retired from the sport which also happened to coincide with me moving out of home, suddenly I was in charge of my calorie intake and had seriously reduced my exercise routine. Result sudden and long term weight gain. Healthy eating and lifestyle has to be learnt and in my view should not just be externally controlled without education.

I guess Santa will have a similar form to be filled in now. How many 20 Stone kids can you expect him to have on his lap in a day?
Not only that the Grotto would need planning permission for the extension to take the kids and parents. :o

Good post mark, don't worry my bit about my kids was a bit tongue in cheek, they are only 1,4 and 6! and was just messing!
