Me and a few lads are looking to play at Ballybunnion ( both courses) Tralee and another to be decided next year around May.

We will fly from liverpool to shannon, hire a car/people carrier and drive down towards tralee playing Ballybunnion thursday/friday and tralee saturday. We will then head back towards limerick for the saturday night out, play sunday then back home sunday night.

What is Limerick like for a bevy and is the above plan a good one or is the a better way of playing them courses?

Having looked at google maps that seems the best way to play them though we wanna be in a decent place for a bevy come saturday night.

Thanks

Thanks mate, Whats the nightlife like in Limerick???

Stuart....Your in luck mate.

My home is Limerick....Born and raised here for 35yrs... :D :D

Here's the story......If it were me id play Ballyb last....
The reason being that you have 62 miles from limerick city to tralee.......To ballybunion its only 45 miles......Its up to ye though.....

As regards nitelife.....Saturdays are probably the busiest night...And if Munster happen to be playing Heinekin Cup at home the weekend ye come it'll be even better.

I worked as a bouncer for 10 years in the town and there are some great spots....

Take a look here Mate it should give you all you need...http://www.limericktourist.com/......

If there's anything else just PM me id be glad to help. ;)

Dont need to go near Limerick City at all as you head for Tralee, take the ferry across from Killimer in Clare to Tarbert in Kerry--see shannonferry group ltd for details.

You could always play Shannon Golf Club before you take the plane home.

Went to Limerick a few years ago it it was the best trip we've had ,we stayed in the Jurrys Inn which looks over The Shannon, the saturday was good but the sunday was even better.

Lucky boy, Stuart. Played Ballybunion many times in my yoof and Tralee too. I loved Tralee. Great courses all. We got a weekly ticket at BallyB for 100 punts at the time and played twice a day. I dare say it's a bit dearer now. We went to Limerick on the way but it was Good Friday.... so it was shut. Enjoy.

Cheers Kid2 just what i was after.

No bother stuart....RGS is right but from Shannon to Killimer is about 30mins Drive...... Plus Ferry charges......
You wouldnt save alot of time by doing that....With the new Motorway opening tomorrow its only going to take 12-15mins at most to get from shannon to limerick city south and there's no need to go through the city centre......It'll take you straight onto the Tralle or Ballybunion road.....

Also just one thing to watch about a sunday round before ye go home......Most clubs here hold their comps on sundays and they are usually fully booked so just check in advance as some may not cater for visitors during competition times.....Unless its possible for ye to enter them...

My club East Clare is about 35 mins from shannon airport and id be happy to try set up something there for ye if ye like.....Ill check the weekend for ye as to the rules for visitors during club comps.....

Nice one John ballybunnion & tralee are 180 each to play but thats both courses at bally so not too bad i dont think. If your travelling to play quality courses then it comes at a price doesn't it.

Only live once :D

Absolutely Stuart. Loved every minute over there. 2 rounds of golf on the best courses known to man followed by Carslberg, Guinness and Smithwicks etc. You could get a LIFE membership at BallyB for, I think, 1800 punts at the time I was there when I was 21. I saw a few yanks snap up that offer and wander into the old clubhouse (a ski chalet affair) with their new green jackets. Now if only I had that kind of money at the time!

Another one to try is Waterville got an invite there next year from the pro who my mate caddied for in The Open qualifying, looks out of this world.

Wouldnt it be great to wind back the clock.....I think that last year there was something like a 35000€ lifetime membership fee....I stand to be corrected though
Just checking there Stu....Check out the overseas membership offers they have on the website link i gave you....Might be worth a shout.

i only stayed in limerick city for one night stuart so sorry to say i cant help much in regards to nightlife (though kid2 seems to more than make up for that). however i do know that there is a brilliant steak restaurant along o'connell street if you like your red meat. it was called texas steakout and was on the side of the street nearest to the river shannon. it was underground and next to(or under) a chinese restaurant. the food was excellent and at a very reasonable price. their website is http://www.texassteakout.com/
have a look and see what you think
