Snap, took our kids to Cala Milor (may of spelt it wrong) in Majorca. Did all inclusive in a Thompson Family Village. Can not say enough good things about it, kids lived it, food and drinks were really good and accommodation was good as well. 5mins from the beach which was a bonus to.

We found any of the holiday firms to be silly expensive. 2000 plus for spain is more than i can afford, and thay wasnt even AI. We have always booked our own flights and hotel and never had a bad time. We paid £900 2 years ago for all inclusive in spain, albeitbit was a bit out of season and thundered alot!

With regards to the head telling you you won't be fined next June then just beware that that may change. Personally I think it's a bit rash of a head telling you that but there you go. I am a chair of governors for a primary school so know a bit about this. And it may be the case that the head will not have any choice as result of say a bad Ofsted or the outcome of a test case that is rumbling its way through the courts at the moment.

Yes many primaries do not fine now, but my local authority is putting pressure on schools to do more of it and as budgets are stretched even further other are already following suit. So I'd just make sure you can afford the fine if they do decide to impose one, just in case.

Thank you, i will keep that in mind. I know some are getting stricter. My sister in law is a teachers support for one afternoon a week and her husband won a holiday to the carribean and it ment she had to take the one afternoon she works a week off and she got disciplined for it as they wouldnt autorhize it! Crazy. It wasnt like she booked the holiday, i thought it was pretty harsh!

But that's slightly different as she is a TA asking for time off out of school holiday time, not a parent taking a child out of school during term time. The governing board makes the call on teachers wanting to take time off and we do get requests for unpaid leave, and to be honest I would have granted it as the school would have been able to cover one afternoon's TA tasks very easily. Agree that's very harsh.
