Scottish Schools Autumn Holiday

In Glasgow it's week starting 16th October.

I can only speak for the East of Scotland, but the Autumn break is two weeks. Known as the “Tattie Holiday” it was two weeks long so the kids could help with the harvest. The Spring and Summer mid term was only two days.

As a Glasgwegian schoolkid I was a bit jealous that my rural Deeside cousins got that extra two weeks holiday, though I never much fancied the tattie howkin’ they described having to do.
